Titbits from PP / Garage bar & other venues
Titbits from PP / Garage bar & other venues
Just popped in Garage bar for a drink thinking I might run into a couple of familiar faces, Saturday 8:30 pm. The last time I was here was about 3 months ago with some of the old clique namely Gavinmac, Lucky Lucan, a couple of former posters, Brunt and good ol'Gibbon Arms in person. Even Playboy had said he'd turn up but passap prices have skyrocketed so he eventually passed.
I'm almost the only customer. I know times are tough for many but they cannot be that tough, and most expats I know haven't quite reached bottom yet (except for his lordship) so I was a bit surprised at how empty the place was
The 2 girls were happy to chat and told me Clay the former Canadian owner (after Jeff/Brunt, Simon and ?) left last month. Most customers were his buddies and feel no longer welcome, they explained. Adding that Clay now sits at Larry's and waves his buddies in whenever they mistakenly step into Garage Bar. Brunt's also sitting at Larry's. Garages latest owner, some Australian dude, is nowhere to he seen and prefers to hide upstairs.
A friend told me that Sharky's finally closed for good. Too bad, that place had a soul even if its latest avatar wasn't as typical as before covid.
Pickled parrot closed as well, but they'll reopen soon in the alley near lonestar, between 154/172.
Even Pontoon is vacillating as the whole GSM is likely to be torn down within the next few months, but apparently they'll be reopening in the next 6 months or so.

I just haven't been in that area for a while, I have been out in other areas. I might even go to Ballsac lane tonight.
Romantic Cambodia is dead and gone. It's with McKinley in the grave.
The Australian is married to the actual owner of the building and has always been in the picture, “hiding upstairs”.
The owner of the building is serving a prison sentence for drug smuggling abroad. The crowd left when Clay, who I think was a manager and never an owner of the bar, was given the boot and the bar given to a niece or something along those lines.

Clay rented the bar, the same as Jeff/Brunt, Peter, and Simon. He got the boot last month and the daughters of the of women on death row in Indonesia are now the legal owners of the bar and the building.

Finally some bar/food content. I haven’t been to garage in 7 or 8 years, the owner was trying to give me peas with my burger. That’s a weird ass combo so I declined.

I doubt that very much. Penis maybe but peas no way.

Lets get some facts straight,,
[ 1 ] Clay was never the owner, he was a manager with no financial investment in the place.
[ 2 ] The owner of the bar is Lin and her sister. Lin worked in the bar for 4 years and is quite capable of running it and making her own mistakes without anyone else's help. And as for the Australian dude, he spends half his time not in PP and does not drink so why would you expect him to be in a bar.
Fact, [ 1 ] That Australian dude is not married, spends less than half his life in PP, [ presently not in PP ] and why would someone want to hang out in a bar if they didn't drink or want to hang out with expats .Alexandra wrote: ↑Sat Dec 03, 2022 9:49 pmThe Australian is married to the actual owner of the building and has always been in the picture, “hiding upstairs”.

Fact [ 2 ] If you look at the Hard Title you will see the owner of the building for the past years , was Lin's mother. The title has now been transferred to Lin and her sister, along with the ownership of the bar.
Note ,, Lin's mother is not in prison , and the person referred to that is in prison has no interest, and never has had, anything to do with the property.

It sounds like the Garage Bar has finally died.
May it Rest In Peas...

Has Red Fox on 136 reopened yet?
So GA really was AiA?
"Goodness me! Now STD free..."
With all due respect to AIA he just doesn't have the wits & humour. AIA's only and favourite topic has always been AIA.
