Power prices in Cambodia
Power prices in Cambodia
I’m curious as to the situation over their re power prices. Have the surged as much as in the west where people are paying three times as much this winter compared to last, and governments are scrambling to mitigate things?
Is is there some kind of cosy relationship with China that is helping supplies?

Being that the temperature rarely drops below 24 degrees country-wide, heating costs during winter aren't much of a concern.

The price of electricity tends to sit around $0.148/kW - it isn't ideal for a power user setting up a Bitcoin mine if that's what you were considering.

True, but the downside of this climate is that we have maybe 3-4 weeks when one does not need aircon, unless one lives in a shaded, ventilated area, or possibly at a higher elevation, such as Kirirom or Rattanakiri. I imagine using an aircon as a heater (say increase of 5C) would be cheaper than using it as a cooler (-5C). Techies?

You may be a slave to it 48 weeks of the year but you certainly don't speak for a majority of people in Cambodia
Thank you for answering a question that wasn’t asked.
I was asking to find out if Cambodia power prices have surged (irrespective of what it’s used for) as in much of the rest of the world.

The answer is no, they haven't surged. My last bill was the smallest I've had in years.
Romantic Cambodia is dead and gone. It's with McKinley in the grave.
My bill moves between $40-60 bucks. Fridge/washing machine/hot shower in regular use. No A/C. A big old electric oven is what seems to push it up a bit when used for baking.
My last several too....can't explain thatLucky Lucan wrote: ↑Thu Feb 02, 2023 2:15 pmThe answer is no, they haven't surged. My last bill was the smallest I've had in years.
My bill has even gone down a bit. Around $80-$100/month.
4bd house, aircons, fridge (big and very bad electricity rating), washing machine, hot shower, tv/computers.

I've been getting this handly little graph and price comparisons to last year on my bills- is this nationwide or just local?

We get them in the capital too, anywhere supplied by EDC is probably the same.

His point is that the urban centres dictate much of the country's consumption, necessary or unnecessary, as determined by the Greta Thunberg fans or others.
Would be so kind as to post your electricity bills over the months of February-June? And perhaps a picture of your office/ bedroom?
Obviously you don't use that evil air conditioner, right?
I would bet you that if you offered air conditioning at an affordable rate, almost every Cambodian household would opt for it.
The only thing standing against it now is the cost,
