@Hanno st 278? yes big outdoor seating besides the restaurant. But the same slow service and mediocre food (for those kind of prices)....
Customer service is a problem in any industry here. Especially difficult in f&b as smaller places have no enforcable contracts. So you train staff, a competitor offers $5 more in salary and off they go... Pay more salary to retain them and customers start bitching their meal is too expensive...

Customer service is a problem everywhere and Covid made it worse. A lot of people left the hotel/restaurant business during Covid and they are not coming back.root wrote: ↑Mon Jan 30, 2023 10:07 am@Hanno st 278? yes big outdoor seating besides the restaurant. The owner of Penh 278 contacted me yesterday afternoon; which I think is great. That does not happen often.

I had a great American breakfast with a weird looking hippie taking an uncomfortable table next to me, that's all.

I did go to Hops last night. Both the food and the beer were very good, if on the pricey side.
The "Amber Witch" wheat beer tasted just like a Bavarian "Hefeweizen" and was fairly priced at $5.50.
The Bavarian sausage salad was tasty but I thought it was a little pricey at $8.50 for a very small portion. The pretzel that came with it was as good as any you'd get in Germany.
The Nuernberger sausages were also very good, as was the sauerkraut.
Service was good and that courtyard is a nice place to sit.

they have 2 places, I’ve been to their place in TK. Food was a bit different for me but i quite liked it. Your last dish was the main I ordered, but it puzzled me. After a starter/snack and a couple of pints to get a dish containing with 6 sausages and a massive pretzel was a bit much. I never leave food - it’s maybe a bad habit - but I ate until I was really uncomfortable.Hanno wrote: ↑Tue Jan 31, 2023 9:23 amI did go to Hops last night. Is that normal portion sizes for German food? Or was I meant to share it with someone?

Getting 6-8 sausages (Nuernberger are not very big) with sides would be very normal in a German restaurant. For one person....ផោមក្លិនស្អុយ wrote: ↑Tue Jan 31, 2023 10:04 amthey have 2 places, I’ve been to their place in TK. Food was a bit different for me but i quite liked it. That's true, a load closed down but I think there are still a couple left on 63 south end; I'll have a snoop on my way back from work sometime, haven't been to any of those since we lost one of our older Japanese guys to COVID (back in Tokyo).RobW wrote: ↑Sun Jan 29, 2023 3:45 pmHow about ordinary Jap restaurants where you can have a set or bento? There's a surfeit of flash sushi and sashimi places, though I notice Japanese folk don't eat that too much here and some has clearly been frozen.
Ninja in 278 is pretty good for this.
Katanashi has the old school wooden drinking den with food vibe and is also good but a bit more expensive. Popular with golden youth.
There were a few cool ones way down 63(?), over Mao, run by genki young Japanese dudes but I think they are gone.

No mentioned of Larry’s. Love their cheeseburger. Great specials like Lasagna sells out fast.

Fantastic, just add some classic Klaut rock & Sausages for a good time (no Rammstien).
12 beers, 6 sausages and some pickled cabbage. It must get a little oom pah pah round the back of the lederhosen in those beer halls
The Vitking in Siem Reap is the same. Great food. Excellent value for money.
There is a Korean restaurant 100 m down one of the side roads from the Russian Boulevard, around China town / across from the airport. It has been there for 7 years or more. I've been there 6-7 times, and the food is great and the waitresses very kind.
