Taking the Barang for a ride?

One of my employers seems to be getting raped by every authority atm.

$500.00 power bill for a guesthouse/bar with only 2 guests for the month + 2 staff and brand new Aus standard wiring and circuts and 5star aircons. - maybe neighbours stealing power or an official wants a new dailim?

$150.00p/m cintri bill - one bag per day + the bastard locals pile the rubbish accross the street from us for collection. Not to mention one neighbour pays $6 and the other pays $15.

Water bill for 2 people (total) in establishment $26p/m.

Seem a bit odd to any of you? anyone have problems like this before? Any suggestions? Government has been no help and said it's our problem and we have to pay the bills. the place was renovated and everything re done only 3 months ago. Its only this months bills they've started raping us with.

would appreciate any guidance on this,

Cheers

Personally, I don't care what happens to you until you stop using the word "raped" instead of "ripped off".

Turn off every electrical appliance and light in the building, if the meter is still running call the in EDC and tell them to sort it out pronto.

We tried that, the meter stopped running 5 mins after we turned the mains off - a little odd? The EDC guy was a complete waste of oxygen and said it was our problem then tried to argue with us about his "call out fee". We promptly told him to fuck off.

The bill was due last week so we went with a police official friend and they knocked it back to $350 no hesitation.

The cintri bill is completely ludicrus, $150 for one bag of garbage a day? Neighbours pay $6 and have more rubbish, not to mention the eyesore of the community garbage pile on the verge on 154. We should be getting free collection for that.

...brand new Aus standard wiring and circuts...
If they're piggybacking your power supply, you should have noticed the take-off when you did this?

I'm no electrician, but - new install = higher bills - possible earth drain somewhere?

Sounds like you're paying too much for electricity and water and that might be due to stealing neighbours.

How much did the old owner pay CINTRI? You might have to pay more because your place is a registered guest house?

Yeah there is a higher Cintri fee for a guesthouse but $150 is a bit steep isn't it? They originally charged us $25

The first power bill was only $150 ( this was the month that the Reno took place with power tools running non stop for 2 weeks )

I'm guessing it's the thieving neighbours due to the meter slowing down over a 5min period. But how can you prove this? They usually hard wire it to fridge/aircon circuts so they can't get caught.

Is there anyway I can sort this out without resorting to running new cables and ripping tiles n stuff off the Walls?

if you stick a kill switch under the meter you'd be able to catch them red handed, then go smack the shit outa them

That and you actually pay the EdC guys to find the culprit. Might cost you now but in the long run you'll save.

Hasn't CINTRI given a reason for the rise from 25 to 150USD?

They did the same to us at home as well, then The Radioactive One sent the bodyguard round to EdC to 'negotiate' with them and they dropped the price again.
