Work permit questions on yahoo group
But it all goes back into road, rail and other infrastructure improvements, along with HE's personal intervention to raise the minimum wages of garment factory workers, etc. - why would you not pay?!

He only intervened because its election year, as for infrastructure improvements the Japs and the Chinks seem to pay for most of that.By the way , have you seen the state of the Chom Chao / Veng Streng st supposed to be a toll road and it's a fucking mess hasn't had a proper repair in years. I probably wouldn't mind paying the back dated bill if i knew for sure that it wasn't going to line some cunt's pocket.
For over ten years i worked in language schools and every year some clown in a uniform would request our passports ( only full- timers) , make copies and then disappear again till another 12 months had passed. Why did they not worry about work permits then? Personally I don't think too much about it (the work permit issue)as I don't think it will be too enforced in this land of what's the fucking point.

He'd only have to work for 2 days to pay for it anyways...hey-you wrote:horace wrote:I'm not going to get a permit if it's going to cost me around 1500$ (15 years) ! I'd rather leave the country and set off on my retirement travels.Spigzy wrote:I think it is because we'd tackled it previously

I kinda gathered that you were being sarcastic ( and think if all posters used your method it would cut down a lot of the vitriol that sometimes occurs ), so it wasn't you that riled me but the thought of dealing with any form of corrupt Khmer bureaucracy and as a result of said dealing, having the bastards know more about me and losing my under the radar feeling. I have always hated coppers and been an anarchist albeit a socialistic one.Spigzy wrote:Sorry Horace, threw out the italics to indicate sarcasm, wasn't trying to get you riled!horace wrote:He only intervened because its election year...
Therefore apology not needed but nevertheless accepted.

One of the women I work with, who is Spanish, got a visit from 6 policemen a couple of days back. They were looking for a work permit. She basically told them "Yeah, yeah, yeah, I'll go to the ministry tomorrow and get it sorted out." End of story, the cunts were just looking for some easy money and she knew it. If I ever get pulled up on this, I'm going to claim I was living off savings for the last 7 years, and only recently actually started to work.
Romantic Cambodia is dead and gone. It's with McKinley in the grave.
Again, they start charging you from your very FIRST business/regular visa, regardless of what you've been doing here, or even if you were here at all, for that matter.Lucky Lucan wrote:...If I ever get pulled up on this, I'm going to claim I was living off savings for the last 7 years, and only recently actually started to work.
From reports in this thread it sounds as if this more of KNY shakedown with recognition this could be the last hurrah for them with the recent introduction of Public Services Fee Schedules. However expect increased enforcement of laws/regulations and I understand these set fees are shared between local office and central govt so there is incentive.

Correct, but I'd expect any implementation will vary dramatically between different offices.drwahwah wrote:From reports in this thread it sounds as if this more of KNY shakedown with recognition this could be the last hurrah for them with the recent introduction of Public Services Fee Schedules. Dictated to a slave and sent by carrier pigeon.
Is it just me, or is it stupid they have a Yahoo Group page? Looks terrible and is a total bitch to maneuver.
Eye sore. Shouldn't they turn that into a forum? There can't possibly be any pluses to having such an ugly Yahoo Group.
