Looking for a Khmer Property Manager
Looking for a Khmer Property Manager
Hi all,
My company owns about 15 units in Phnom Penh (mostly occupied despite Covid). I'm now optimizing our team to maintain, manage, and rent these apartments.
Does anyone have ideas for sourcing staff or potentially any referrals? I would pay approximately $500 per month for an English-speaking, competent, Khmer manager. They would manage three subordinates by later this year.
Thanks.

So why not US$500 or more per month "Guest" and "Starving Pelican"? This is in fact a modest professional salary. So what's your experience in the professional levels of Cambodians with strong qualifications and employment experience in Cambodia in the present era?
Are you saying that Cambodians are lesser persons and not capable of such professional positions? If so why? Please justify your position.
Or are you just forum time-wasters with nothing substantive to contribute to any meaningful posting or topic?
Get out of your patronising ex-pat bubble and in to the real world of Cambodian professionals and start mixing and socializing with professional Cambodians in many walks of life and see just what they are achieving in 2020. Then see how you stack up against them.
Salaries of well over $1,000 per month are now the norm at the appropriate levels in Cambodia and over $1,000 per week is not that unusual too at the upper levels of successful Cambodians in professional areas.

I think that is precisely their point OML. They are saying that by offering $500, the OP will not get a competent and professional local to do the work, and that to get what they want they will have to offer much more.

Well, I read it in a contrary and demeaning sense.
As such, I await their responses.
There is a common and frequent tendency on this forum and others to keep "putting down" Cambodians and belittling their abilities and competencies vis a vis those of ex pats in Cambodia.

But if I have mis-read the ambiguous postings of "Guest" and "Starving Pelican" then I am glad at least to have brought this forum's tendency to belittle the capacity and abilities of well educated and experienced Cambodians in to open discussion.
This forum is deplorable in it's overall condescension of present day Cambodians by persons/posters who clearly have no involvement with such people.

Yes, you most certainly misread it. It was actually a joke at the expense of "Guest", who is actually a regular poster, normally stating that everything is overpriced. For "guest" to state that something is "underpriced" means that what is being offered is most certainly not a fair fee.Ot Mean Loi wrote: ↑Mon Jul 13, 2020 4:54 pmBut if I have mis-read the ambiguous postings of ... The irony in your sanctimoniousness is that YOU told the OP that you have a "good candidate" at the rate the OP offered, then went and jumped on your moral high horse about people whom you (wrongly) thought were saying the OP's rate was too low.
I don’t think this forum belittles Cambodians at all. In fact the vast majority are very positive about the people and Cambodia’s future.
The fact OML (or Karen as he’s now known) starts something over nothing and just comes across as a pretentious know it all.
Just stick to the UNTAC thread Karen. Thanks.

Hello Pelican.
I posted that I had a good candidate. That remains very much the case.
You are not privy to what I said in that private message about remuneration.

k440, something to do when you're pissed.
OML suggested a candidate and given his experience it's certainly a good lead.
Which is more than Horace and SP did. Instead of attacking OML for misreading a post try to get laid and relax.
