I think you can check Bonna Realty's website for some listings to get an idea of what's out there.
I was told there would be cake.

Bonna Realty showed me some flats about 4 months ago, they were all crap and way overpriced. My Khmer wife reckons they were asking about 20 grand too much for pretty much every property.
My understanding is that you should be able to get something like two floors (say 3rd & 4th) in the area you mention for around that sort of dough. Don't expect them to be flash or well appointed though.

you might get two floors if they were 4 and 5 maybe and yes they wouldn't be good. Then it's still relatively cheap to smarten them up provided you can negotiate with reliable workers
There is nothing more Australian than spending time in somebody else's country
Just saw a cheap place with a peep of the river.
A reno would probably produce two bedrooms but there is no title.
Only a family book.
The lawyer says that he can search with an address and the family book-I told him to forget it.
Anything cheap has got to be too good to be true.
However I believe that there will be bargains later due to debt in the countryside.

No title to land in PP? That seems odd. I thought the systematic registration program had already worked its way through most/all of PP no?

just coz you are a lawyer doesn't mean you know jack shit about how things operate in cambodia. try getting a year or two's experience before you humiliate yourself and the firm you work for with posts such as the above.ChicagoGuy wrote:No title to land in PP? Do you as a lawyer in a firm in Cambodia understand te difference between hard title for the land and a stratum or strata or leasehiod or co-op style or other title for property that is above the ground?
you really should ask your senior partners about this sort of thing before posting such questions.

For starters, I clearly indicated that I didn't know and was asking for information. You clearly seem to be aware of the fact that I am new here. For you to attack and insult someone who is new to the area because they might be ignorant about something really shows me what sort of character you have.LaudJohn wrote:just coz you are a lawyer doesn't mean you know jack shit about how things operate in cambodia. try getting a year or two's experience before you humiliate yourself and the firm you work for with posts such as the above.ChicagoGuy wrote:No title to land in PP? Second, if you judge the quality of a law firm by whether or not a new lawyer who has only been here for a few months knows everything about the region, I think that's pretty silly. The managing partner literally wrote the book they use to teach land law here.
Best of luck to you.
[edit] The only person I see humiliating themselves here is you.

Yes, I know the difference. Your suggestion that I should consult the partners of my firm before every casual conversation is absurd.LaudJohn wrote:ChicagoGuy wrote:No title to land in PP? well i have been searching the real estate agents web sites and they have 2 bedroom flats for 35k/50k,
which i would think they will be shitters, but with a reno job, providing there in a half decent street/area i think they should do
will need to buy 4 or 5.
but thanks to all...... for all the advice ( and the sarcasm that seens to go along with this forum)
looking forward to getting to pp next year, will need drinking buddies...

I was under the impression that a barang couldn't own land in Cambodia. Anyone care to enlighten me?
