Any suggestions for short stay properties in PP? Not seeking luxury but a shower, hot water, comfortable and peaceful would be nice

Look at Airbnb.
There are people who cannot imagine that there are other ways of life than their own life.

If you are into escorts, terrible odours, dirty sheets, cockroaches and ants, this place is definitely for you.
You arrive on the street surrounded by what seems to be brothels. You walk into the lobby and distinguish pictures of the owners daughter modelling. You get your room key and walk up the stairs in the odour of excrement (probably fermented fishpaste, but still). You try to open the doors but they're jammed. You force the door open and see the romantic plastic flowers, you feel alive and adventurous. You walk up to the bed and notice the stains on the sheets. This turns out to be the guest house of horrors. The ants starts crawling towards you, you feel hopeless. When you finally hide under the sheets of doom you see a cockroache crawl into your shoes. You slowly put your feets under the blanket to hide from a potential deadly attack.

Bathrooms smell like POO all the time. Staff very very rude. Your room keys are left one desk someone maybe in area to watch. I booked a balcony room but they put me in tiny room for same price. Don't eat here unless you like to be dick. Draft Beer watered super special at $0.75 but would you pay that much for half water.
Been here 3 days they didn't clean my room until I asked them to today. I am sorry I pre paid for 7 days what to leave and they will not give money back. Stupid place DON'T STAY HERE. Also if tuk tuk driver brings you here he will get $5 per night from owner it is the only way they get bookings.

Had the misfortune of staying there one night last week. My tuk tuk driver suggested this dive. 1st glance at the first bedroom,,looked ok. I accepted and paid for 2 nights,,big mistake. 1st room, the air conditioning didnt work and a used condom wrapper located next to one bed,
“Never again! Rat in the Room.”

This was by far our worst accommodation experience in our four week Cambodia trip.
The cats that you can smell when walking past the kitchen to your room are obviously not doing their job properly, since there was a live rat in our room! It was stuck to a sticky rat trap and the staff didn't seem at all concerned or apologetic when my partner notified them.

Warning, I would NOT stay at this hotel. My boyfriend and I stayed there for two nights and the people that work there were very rude and not helpful at all. For example we payed for a ride from there to the bus staision early morning when we left and the guy confirmed that to us when we booked in. Than when we came down from our room to get our ride he just told us that he didn't have a ride for us, so I politely said that we would just get tuk tuk and he could tell him where to take us and pay for it ofcourse because we had paid him, than he just said NO I 'm not paying and all his staff started laughing and staired down in their phones.

Flats on Airbnb are expensive in Cambodia. Just drive around and go and ask condos where they have "for rent" signs. Loads of free apartments already in PP and every month more coming online. 2 months shouldn't be problem if you are willing to pay bit extra than long term renter.Sidewalker wrote:Look at Airbnb.
Haha. Well, you get what you pay for. No one complained about the breakfast, so there's hope yet.gavinmac wrote:Baray Angkor has 14 reviews on Tripadvisor. 13 of the 14 reviews rate it "poor" or "terrible," including gems like these:RC88088 wrote:Awesome, thanks for the tips everybody, Baray Angkor sounds like to good place to get rolling

sooooo, taking on good advice when it's given, Im going to slide straight past Baray Angkor....
Is it worth emailing real estate agents to see if they short term deals? I have the feeling that the catch would be not getting the deposit/bond back.

I think it is worth it. I dealt with Anna Home about a year ago, contacted them about an advertised unit in DeCastle Royal, they were willing to do two months. I think the IPS rep who posts here sometimes PMed me once and said they would consider that also. I think the more high end the property, the more willing they might be to do that. I mean, if you see an apartment advertised on their site for $1000/mo. that they want a six month lease on, and you contact them and say "I'm arriving on Feb. 1 and I'd like the unit for two months and I'll pay you $2,000," there's a good chance they will agree.
If they are advertising a $400 place and you want to haggle it down to $250 and only stay for two months, it becomes less worth their time.
I've heard Nokor lucky is OK, I stayed at Season Residence on St. 144 it was pretty good a few years back.
You're not likely to find "peaceful" anywhere in Phnom Penh.
