I'm a huge fan of the idea of compact living and some of the marvelous ideas people come up with to make their small spaces functional. Probably my OCD side is drawn to smaller being easier to control but I also see no need for traditional manse style living with huge bedrooms and living spaces. Here are some videos I've collected....
And a few of my favorites;

Great stuff.
Your first favourite is great... and reminds me of one of my neighbour's house... he deliberately leaves it open for the swallows to enjoy when he's in Thailand teaching six months a year.
Never mind the bird poo and the native wasps who fill up every nook and cranny with clay containing paralyzed insects...
Came across this tiny cute Japanese house on wheels, weighing just 500kg:

I've seen that pod-share one before and wondered how it could work in KOW.
The problem with the world is stupidity. I'm not saying there should be a capital punishment for stupidity, but why don't we just take the safety labels off of everything and let the problem solve itself?

I live in a 36sqm apartment/loft which I designed myself. I love it. I've also always been into small spaces from my teens onward. I like it when everything is within reach and it forces you to design with utility in mind in order to incorporate storage and so on. I hate big villas and rooms. They feel empty to me. The only thing that would force me to change my small-space habit is having a kid. Was awesome as a bachelor pad, but slightly more difficult now with a (almost) live-in girlfriend. My next project is to make myself a tiny cabin out in the countryside.

Obviously I cannot do much atm with two kids but I might buy a small shitty bolthole in PP just to play around with. Just a shame you cannot really access all the excellent materials, small space tech and skilled trades that you can in the west.
When i worked in Manila I lived in a 32m2 studio and I absolutely loved it .

But you'll get a bit more exercise in a larger house.
Say, if you go for a piss 10 times a day and the toilet is a 10m walk, that's 200m extra (there and back) every day...
Add to that, from the bedroom to the kitchen to make your morning coffee, might just save you money going to gym...

Who goes for a Piss ten (10) times a day?
You must have a Nippon Japanese clip-on bladder!
