Hello All,
I am currently looking for flats, have seen a lot already.
The one I like best so far is not fully finished.
All the apartments in the tower are furnished already - but I think I'd be the first tenant
The main construction work is done - some beauty touches in the staircase missing
Gym not yet done (the room is there, but not equipped yet)
Pool area not yet done (as in, it is build but the water is filthy rain collection at the moment)
Is it safe to move in there and trust the landlord that it will be done within a month or so?
I don't want to wait another month in a hotel, and that particular tower seems best to me in terms of location / price / what is offered (if finished)
I assume putting assurances in the contract like "if gym not done, 40$ less rent per month, if pool not done another 40$ etc." are not worth the paper they are written on.
Should I look elsewhere? Or should I trust in it?
Moving into Apartment Blocks under construction

Lots of "if questions and not much detail" ... are you trolling?NewbyRenter wrote:Hello All,

Not sure I follow, let me know whats unclear ...
Essentially there are things missing in the apartment block at the moment. The flat is good though.
Can I trust the owner to complete the missing things soon and move into the flat, or should i wait for the project to be fully finished.

How can anyone answer if you can trust the landlord or not?
Some people are trustworthy, some aren't, across all nationalities.
Surely he will wants more renters so the onus is on him to finish up quickly to get more tenants in.
Timescales can be flexible though.
Soon could mean tomorrow or 4 weeks time.
A month could be 3 weeks or 8 weeks.
If I was you then I'd propose a reduced rent until certain facilities are complete (unless it is already priced accordingly due to the unfinished nature). This would not be unusual and if he is a reasonable person will likely agree. If he doesn't agree then it gives you an idea of the kind of person you are dealing with.

Very good advise - thank you! I will do exactly this.
Not the first building they are "finishing soon", just saying...
Bless

They'll get to it as soon as their main team complete the PP-sihanoukville motorway.

Landlord should give you discount first few months already as all facilities not done. I moved to building that was not completly finished. Pool, gym, cafe and some upper floors were not finished. Landlord said they will be finished within 2 months. Got -30% for the first 2 months. Pool and gym was finished as promised. Other construction continued couple months longer but those didn't give me any trouble.NewbyRenter wrote:Hello All,

And yes, I demanded the discount to be mentioned on rental agreenment. If no pool & gym finished, the rent would stayed 30% lower. Landlord didn't have objection adding this to contract.

Hi there, before shifting to the new house you should have a look to the new apartment.
So will the high speed railway connecting Phnom Penh with Bangkok and Vientiane. I also heard a second runway will opened at the airport soon. Cambodia is moving so fast these days!Playboy wrote:Gold Tower 42 will be finished soon.
