Rain-friendly bikes
I'm really glad that I went for a 250 dirtbike style motorcycle, as I came home today the streetbike Wave/Dream/Fino etc. casualties were lined up along MTT/Sihanouk.
I think the Scoopy casualties had already been washed away.
cambod, were you wearing your lifesaver/ snorkel?

I had a suzuki smash for a while. The exhaust peaked a little higher than waves and dreams. Dirtbike is definitely the way to do it though!

Nothing beats a Vespa - if you can keep it moving as the front acts like ship's bow and pushes all the water to the sides- great fun splashing all and sundry.
However, if some twat stops or the lights are against you then you're up a creek without a paddle and the bastards ain't nice to push. There's some serious design flaws in vespas.

k440, something to do when you're pissed.
A buddy and myself both have a 100 Wave, and we were passing people through the rivers left and right, thank u.vladimir wrote:...

Same as the Vespa....keep it moving in low gear....
Also, maybe done know this trick, but if not....
I'm only mentioning this because it has worked (without fail) for me and SEVERAL friends, and they never tried this before...
If ur bike's brakes are squeaky after it rains, do this>
While driving, continue to give it gas AND slowly start pressing on ur brakes while still giving it gas... Keep giving it gas (full throttle) and try to come very close to stopping.
Do that a few times and it totally fixes the squeaking!
Thank me later!
On the Honda Dream and other bikes with cable pull front drum brakes be aware water can enter into the inner cable when used in flood waters.
This can cause rusting and sticking later in the season.
Use a little spray lube like WD40 to dewater the cable section once a week or so then have the inner cable lubed at the end of the wet.
Many motos were affected after the flooding in SR last year - the local repair shop has a big bundle of new cables just for this reason.
Saves dragging brakes later on........
Otherwise I find the Wave and the Dream are fine for negotiating calf deep water - as it get higher you get too much water resistance from the fairing....

I'm picking up a lot of survival tips on this forum. Yet I hope I don't arrive during a flood next month. Should I bring a couple of big plastic trash bags to cover my legs when wading through deep water or do you guys just roll up your pant legs?
But the time I realize I should do anything it's too late, and i just walk on through with $80 dress shoes on....Gray Pilgrim wrote:I'm picking up a lot of survival tips on this forum. I think the problem with all the engines stalling isn't so much water entering the exhaust system but loose rubber fittings on the spark plugs.

Christ on a stick, you'd need legs like a Russian shot putter to pedal that beast around.
It would be worth making one just to get a photo of the local coppers trying to decide if they should book you or run away in terror.vladimir wrote:Dude, fit that monster with Boadicea's cutlery and no cop would even think of trying to stop you!Chuangt2u wrote:

How would you stop such a creation ? If you put the front brakes on you would just rotate over the wheel and smash your head onto the ground, and rear brakes would not work at all on this baby.
I refuse to go out with nothing more than a whimper followed by a small farting sound and a shit stain on my bed sheets..
Just thought I'd share that with you.

This thing looks like a lot of thought has gone into it, if you zoom in on the back end you can see it has rear brakes!
Forget looking up my ip here is who I am!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
