400 for a ten year licence? wtf?
you participated in corruption to get a DL rather than sitting it and proving you are safe on the roads? pffft

Thanks for that, Andy... Was your trip recent?andy1 wrote: ↑Fri Nov 29, 2019 8:08 amI just turned up at the border with a Cambodian reg bike, not in my name,no Cambodian licence.Filled out a few forms on the Lao side, about $7 or$8 dollars to various officials for tea money and was issued with a permit to import the bike for a period of 30 days.Cambodian customs did not even bat an eye lid about the bike leaving.

Safe on the roads. In Cambodia. Lol.
I did “sit it” as you say and did the theory but due to technicalities I failed both.
It’s only corruption if it doesn’t benefit oneself. So, have you ever paid “tea money”?
Thought so. You can’t not participate in corruption in this country. It’s a physical impossibility.
pew, pew, pew, pew!
“Can’t not”
Sounds wrong. Looks right.

I have read others have done the same going into Laos, but heard that it is possible to do the customs clearance at the embassy. And the price is more than 7 or 8 dollars... More like 30. Did you really ride over that border? If so, did you have a smooth re-entry back into Cambodia on your bike, seeing as it was locally plated and registered?andy1 wrote: ↑Fri Nov 29, 2019 8:08 amI just turned up at the border with a Cambodian reg bike, not in my name,no Cambodian licence.Filled out a few forms on the Lao side, about $7 or$8 dollars to various officials for tea money and was issued with a permit to import the bike for a period of 30 days.Cambodian customs did not even bat an eye lid about the bike leaving.

The return was a different storey as i stayed in Laos nearly 2 months so well over the paperwork.Orichá wrote: ↑Sat Nov 30, 2019 8:16 amI have read others have done the same going into Laos, but heard that it is possible to do the customs clearance at the embassy. What i did was wait just out of sight of the border for a tourist bus to arrive and parked the bikedirectly behind the bus, removed all MC gear and mingled in with the passengers to do the visa, then when they lifted the barrier to let the bus through i just followed it through close behind to be honest i dont think customs was even awake.
Also the police in Laos did not try to stop me at all the entire time i was there, which was a pleasant change from Cambodia.
Excellent.andy1 wrote: ↑Sat Nov 30, 2019 8:40 amThe return was a different storey as i stayed in Laos nearly 2 months so well over the paperwork.Orichá wrote: ↑Sat Nov 30, 2019 8:16 amI have read others have done the same going into Laos, but heard that it is possible to do the customs clearance at the embassy.
