New Motorcycle Workshop in Phnom Penh
A question to all high-end and BIG CC motorcycle owners (250cc+) out there.
Do you have a reliable, trustworthy and reputable workshop to look after your motorcycle needs?
I am a Westerner and have over 30+ years of experience working on motorcycles.
I’m considering opening a workshop in Phnom Penh providing high quality parts, service and accurate diagnostics.
As quality workmanship will be my primary aim I will work by appointment only.
Quality over quantity is my motto.
Would this be a service you would be interested in?

If you're a skilled auto or motorcycle electrician, you'll do well.
Don't know of one here.

I've seen a new big motorbike workshop advertised on Facebook recently, it's called "Home Workshop".

Unless they have branched out they work solely on cafe racer modifications. They've been in business for a few years now but i think may have recently moved locationLucky Lucan wrote: ↑Sun Oct 25, 2020 6:01 pmI've seen a new big motorbike workshop advertised on Facebook recently, it's called "Home Workshop".

When are you thinking about starting and do you already have the diagnostic stuff?

hi RobW
i have not purchased any equipment yet as i dont know if i will open a shop.
The response to this question has been very poor.
What type of bike do you ride and what do you need to have done?

I no longer ride a big bike.
I did find it hard to get it serviced at a place which filled me with confidence that they knew what they were doing.
Diagnostics was incredibly poor, mechanics would have a guess at the problem and change parts, then if that didnt work they'd guess again and change another part.
I ended up paying for repairs and parts which just werent needed.
But my mechanical knowledge is poor, my mechanical language (in Khmer) is poor.
If there had been a trustworthy repair place available which spoke my language i would definitely be interested.

I got a classic Honda GB 500 owned since 1981 , bestest classic Cafe racer, imo ha.
also a 1979 Honda XR 500 mint condition, used to see lots off them many years ago for rent in Sihanoukville. wish I knew where there are now.
I hope you Mr, SuperDuper opens . Well needed. He will do well,

GB is a little young to be a classic cafe racer but is certainly sought after now, because they sold so few.motor cy wrote: ↑Tue Oct 27, 2020 2:36 pmI got a classic Honda GB 500 owned since 1981 , bestest classic Cafe racer, imo ha.

Cafe racers should be consigned to history just like Vespas (which are utter turd now) and Lambrettas with 200 mirrors on. Cool then not so much now.
My dad raced cafe racers (amongst others) on the IOM where he now lives so we grew up with them. I’ll be honest I’ve never seen a modern cafe racer that actually looks like one from the 50s! Most are far too heavy, which defeats the whole point.
Posing hipster nonsense. Especially grating when the bike originally was a classic itself before being murdered.
pew, pew, pew, pew!
Never thought I would say this, but I agree with YaTingPom one hundred percent.
