To be added: Tesla sales have been largely passed by several other manufacturers for electric models. Distance growing.
Jeez V12, you may want to stick to criticizing Trump. At least you're generally right on that topic, unlike here where you obviously don't have the beginning of a clue.
A few facts to correct some of the rubbish you quoted
- results...are published quarterly and the latest for Q3 are just out today. Not "9 months late" as you bizarrely claimed.
- Tesla... is extremely profitable. It actually has the highest margin percentages in the car industry. You can fact check it yourself easily enough. Better, check the results figures yourself as they're just out now!
- regulatory credits were very useful to Tesla, sure. Part of their clever strategy. No longer so useful as other companies have shifted towards EVs as well.
- their capex (capital expenditure) to build Shanghai, Berlin, Austin gigafactories easily explain why "Tesla wasn't profitable". When you invest tens of billions, there's that little accounting gimmick called depreciation that you don't seem very familiar with, that tends to push results in the red when a company gets started.
- media don't seem to like Tesla?
No, just like oil companies or fossil fuel car manufacturers don't really love them either. Let me give you a hint as to why. You've probably seen plenty of ads for toyota, ford, Hyundai, VW, Audi etc Have you ever seen any Tesla ads, in any media? I'm sure you will be able to connect the dots.
- but what made me really laugh aloud reading your post was stuff like this
The Tesla's as a car itself don't get much appreciation from automobile journalists, just the shiny glamour and the big screen itself "sells".
The whole user interface of a Tesla is not suitable for driving a car, the driving itself sucks, apart from the acceleration (according to those who aren't believers and did drive one), the Tesla service is outright disappointing and the Tesla QA is just etc
Obviously you've never sit in a Tesla or god forbid, driven or owned one. I've had various good cars like Audi Quattro, BMW, Mercedes, Toyota Camry V6 etc. None, absolutely none, can compare with my current Tesla MSLR as far as ease of driving, convenience, cost, maintenance, and sheer enjoyment go. Not even mentioning the ridiculous performances and insane acceleration which I seldom use, except when some asshole, generally in a German made SUV, tries to intimidate me to change lanes. It's fun to feathertouch the accelerator out of autopilot and gain 100m on the guy behind you in a couple seconds.
I've had it for 2 years and it's the absolute best car I've ever driven. Nothing comes close. Or probably a Porsche taycan now, but that's about twice the price tag for an overall lower performance. I'm not a car guy. I hate car issues and getting my hands dirty trying to find things under the hood. So I love it because there is no engine. The wife loves it, the kids love it (try to watch Netflix or play a video game or listen to Spotify in your gas guzzler). Driving to Paris or to Berlin like last week to the gigafest is a breeze, AP (autopilot)'does the grunt work and is safer than any human driver. Charging is easy as fuck, you just plug in, unlike any other EVs.
Everything just works. My couple of interactions with the Tesla service centre have all been great, online appointment save time and minor fixes get done in under an hour. No gearbox, no oil changes, no exhaust system. It cost a pretty penny to buy but it makes perfect sense as a business investment. Maintenance costs in 2 years? Zero, zilch, nada. 60k kms so far, I'm probably good for another half a million at least.
So yeah, I've been pretty bullish on TSLA and the gains on the stock so far have been just as ridiculous as the car's performances. Let me just say that the car paid for itself several times already.
