Tesla
True. Much that I’m curious about electric cars and motos I’m not about to venture it that market, maybe a hybrid Toyota but not Prious.
The Chinese quality is still gash even though they look nice. If you’ve ever owned a German car they feel cheap.
Went to see a gas BYD (Build Your Dreams!) brand new $15k. It was terrible. It felt like it had 100k not the 200 km it showed on the dash. “Demostrator sir. Vely cheep”. Nope.
4 year warranty though.

Yeah, China crap. We all know about that.YaTingPom wrote: ↑Mon Nov 22, 2021 4:38 pmTrue. Much that I’m curious about electric cars and motos I’m not about to venture it that market, maybe a hybrid Toyota but not Prious.

You really need to set up a full-scale Western type QA system AND control on that, to be able to get proper quality out of China. It's possible, though it often mimics the B737 Max design quality. Bad quality.
Let us celebrate the full electronic environment, until it breaks down. Not only ABA in Cambodia, though also DBS in Singapore:
ABA Down, hacked ?
KT reports a whole range of servers were getting "System upgrades" .......

You really have an agenda here.v12 wrote: ↑Sat Nov 27, 2021 1:31 amLet us celebrate the full electronic environment, until it breaks down. Not only ABA in Cambodia, though also DBS in Singapore:

I remember in my town when I was younger two banks didn't open on the same day, it was almost lunch time before they were both open. One branch manager lost his keys (on a beach I think) and the other had a car accident. The back up process failed for each one. Everyone was outraged and nothing to do with computers. Nobody used this as an opportunity to say branch managers shouldn't drive (petrol) cars or go to the beach.
My point, stuff happens, it has always happened, it always will. We learn from it and put backups in place to prevent it happening again. But something else will invariably happen.
It's just how life is.
ABA systems have been down how many times in last 5 years? I remember one around Khmer New year quite a while ago, and then this week. It's hardly a big, big issue.

You can recycle lead acid batteries but you can't recycle Tesla batteries. Where are all the dead batteries going to go?
Why do you think has Elon Musk been ramping up SpaceX launches?Fred Edwards wrote: ↑Sat Nov 27, 2021 7:39 amYou can recycle lead acid batteries but you can't recycle Tesla batteries. Where are all the dead batteries going to go?
Is not like FB, Instagram, NatWest etc ever have outages.
Don’t know why everyone is getting their knickers in a twist about it. Inconvenient, annoying - yes. Massive disaster and totally unacceptable - not really.
Get over it you pussies.

For now, car Lithium batteries do get a second life as stationary electric energy storage, until they run out further. Which takes quite some time, not to say, once the car battery becomes stationary, its capacity is increasing again. Which in turn suggests that the charging mechanism for Lithium car batteries is not really that good for the battery. Effectively, Lithium batteries should do charge/discharge cycles between something like 30% and 80%, to give optimal lifetime.Fred Edwards wrote: ↑Sat Nov 27, 2021 7:39 amYou can recycle lead acid batteries but you can't recycle Tesla batteries. And once the stationary use is over, there are means to recycle Lithium car batteries, though this seems to be commercially not viable. So, yeah, there is an upcoming problem. Of course, politically ignored, because not fitting the agenda and opportunistic thinking that "technology will solve this issue" somewhere in the future.
They need some super heavy stuff in the SpaceX for weight and balance ?logos wrote: ↑Sat Nov 27, 2021 9:45 amWhy do you think has Elon Musk been ramping up SpaceX launches?Fred Edwards wrote: ↑Sat Nov 27, 2021 7:39 amYou can recycle lead acid batteries but you can't recycle Tesla batteries. You don't get the message, let me rephrase.
The more you move to real-time technology, the more things will become vulnerable for disruption, due to the lack of alternatives. For non-critical items like Fakebook and Twatter, that is completely irrelevant. For online banking (ABA is heavily pushing on everything online), things can become critical.
Suppose, you show up at the hospital for something urgently, have to pay with your ABA, and it doesn't work. There you go. Think about deadlines, which may not have any mercy for techno failures, or when your life-support in a hospital stops working, etc.
Most people are living a different life, than "always drunk and waiting to die".

When someone disagrees with v12 they obviously don't get the message and must reread his post.
When v12 disagrees with someone then they are 'always drunk and waiting to die'
An interesting approach to life and debate.

Yep, that is how it works in Trumpie world. Easy.ផោមក្លិនស្អុយ wrote: ↑Sat Nov 27, 2021 12:17 pmWhen someone disagrees with @v12 they obviously don't get the message and must reread his post.

Exactly. Expat snowflake syndrome at play here.ផោមក្លិនស្អុយ wrote: ↑Sat Nov 27, 2021 7:03 amABA systems have been down how many times in last 5 years? I remember one around Khmer New year quite a while ago, and then this week. It's hardly a big, big issue.
Dude, I couldn't pay for my triple-decaff latte with ABA, this never happened in New Hampshire!
