Exporting bikes from Cambodia to Europe
Exporting bikes from Cambodia to Europe
hi there , i m struggling to relocated to europe my 3 bikes . i have 2 cub rebuilt and 1 cub with original paper from vietnam.. could someone help me ?
Unless they are something like an Harley it's not worth it.
Between the crates, sea freight, export paperwork, import duties in Europe, new plates and papers the cost is high and just not worth it.
In particular right now that sea freight rates are awfully high.
Also of they are bikes made for the local SE asia market they might not meet EU standards and lack the proper markings on headlights etc...

Likewise, what would you use 3 Honda Cubs for in Europe? Inner City traffic at a stretch, but I'd still struggle even to take my Harley back if I ever went, and plenty of $$$ invested in that, just doesn't make sense financially.

From what I understand this is only for new bikes, a mate imported a few Soviet built Ural bikes into Germany in 2019, although rules might have changed in the last 3 years.
If it’s a. Vietnamese Cub it’ll be a copy or a KNDK.
pew, pew, pew, pew!
If i remember correctly the general EU legal framework (which is as always a bit different nation to nation) is that those regulations apply to ALL motorbikes and cars with the exemption of classic/vintage vehicles.
To be considered vintage it should be usually 25+ years old.
Than you can register it even with an old plate in a special registry dedicated to such vehicles, the insurance and other taxes are very cheap but usually the distance you can drive it on the road is capped at some relatively low numbers of Km/year (something like 1000 or 2000Km/h).
If you want to drive it more than that than the costs balloon quickly as the system is designed for collectors that might bring the bike to a couple of classic bike events and keep it as a collection piece for the rest of the year and to dissuade people to drive such old a d polluting vehicles regularly.
