Buying a motercycle
Buying a motercycle
Hi I just moved to Phnom penh and am looking to buy a motorcycle. Though from what I have read foreigners can only buy new or imported motorcycles that have not been registered under a Cambodian. I need to be able to register it under my name because I intent to ride to Thailand a couple days a month. Dose anyone know of a dealer that sells imported motorcycles that have not been registered under a Cambodian?

Are you going to get a visa everytime you ride to thailand for a few days?
Ur ONLY allowed 2 free visa exempt entries/calendar year

I will get a visa if I have to. But I have heard that they are fairly lax about that rule. Especially if they see that you are going in and out a lot but not staying for long.

It’s not that you can only buy a new or recently imported but that it’s much easier for those to be put in your own name.CWA wrote: ↑Fri Apr 19, 2024 9:04 pmHi I just moved to Phnom penh and am looking to buy a motorcycle. If you buy from someone you know then you can transfer the name but if your are buying a bike from a dealer and you’ve no idea who the person is on the reg card then you can’t transfer ownership.
Interesting, I don't know anyone in Cambodia at the moment. Do you have any recommendations on how I should go about sourcing a bike?ផោមក្លិនស្អុយ wrote: ↑Sat Apr 20, 2024 9:57 amIt’s not that you can only buy a new or recently imported but that it’s much easier for those to be put in your own name.CWA wrote: ↑Fri Apr 19, 2024 9:04 pmHi I just moved to Phnom penh and am looking to buy a motorcycle. one thing thailand is not
is lax about visas/entries into the country
only locals can get day passes to enter and ur restricted to like 10 kms from the border.
best of luck
