Internet speeds
I just signed up with Digi with their 256 kbps package. I didn't really have a concept of what 256 kbps actually meant before I did it, I just signed up for their 2nd to best package and figured that would be fine. It's not. It's too slow to even YouTube and brings me back to the days of AOL on dial-up. I don't think I can live like this.
I have looked at the other threads on ISPs already, but am wondering what I can get for under $100 a month in terms of speed. I am having a hard time comparing all of the ISPs, and much of the advice give here has been for business accounts.
Any suggestions for a home account that has a decent balance between speed and cost? Or am I dreaming?

Ah, so how much extra is it to get the phone line?
And although I am capable of using a phone, I've found over the last few days dealing with DT that using a phone is not enough. They have not shown up for 2 appointments, shown up for 1 an hour late, hung up on me when they didn't understand me, etc. etc.

Yes, it's Digi. Keep in mind that this is my first experience with Cambodian customer service so it's probably par for the course.
I went in today to cancel the service and they made me explain it to three people over the course of thirty minutes. They have also asked me to bring my laptop in so they could examine it but I declined. Then finally they said they might be able to match Ezecom's deal and said they would call me by 11. It's 2 and they haven't called.

I just called Ezecom and they say that the Lifestyle 5 package will run $108 including tax and the rental. How much is VAT around here?
Not sure if I should just stay with Digi--they have a 1MB package that is $119 all inclusive and they say in 6 weeks they will have a special promotion down to $89.

I just got a new 5 MB connection ( Unlimited ) at my place in Thailand 590 baht a month , about US$19.00 fooking faster than you wouldnt believe , I can do 28 different things online at the same time plus still download shitloads of musik .
Just think , sometime in the not too distant future , it could be possible here

I trialled it (for an hour) and found it very slow. Okay for surfing, but not downloading.SunSan wrote:Has anybody tried that 30USD Beeline dongle plan? I met a guy last night who has it (in all provinces, he claims), he's happy with it, reads email and chats.
Anybody with more info?
I came, I argued, I'm out
I have tried several different sims in a USB dongle , the fastest and most reliable seems to be Hello 016 , they are also doing several packages and speeds now , using there own dongle and sim , I used a Metfone one for a while , seems to be having a lot of issues now .

Well, after 5 trips in to Digi they talked me in to trying their 1MB plan. $119 all inclusive. In mid-October they will offer 2x speed at night, so I will go down to their 516 plan for $89.
For me this plan is the same price as the $89 Ezecom plan once tax, rental and installation are included.
The only issue is that dealing with the people at Digi is like trying to communicate with a bag of rocks. They have screwed everything up so far so I am waiting with bated breath to see if they can flip the switch to turn this plan on.
The fact that I am spending half the cost of my rent on Internet (for a slow plan) makes my head spin!!
