Khmer440 tech issues thread
The particular annoying ads YTP mentioned did not stay. If you still see them nuke your browser and try again because they are gone.
There will be more ads on the site inshallah but the covering of entire pages needing clicks to close full page ads are not staying in any shape or form.
I appreciate your support though Rob, and I promise to have a titties thread raised in your honor as fast as possible.

Yeah I know it’s pretty pointless deleting cookies and history but I do it not to evade Google but out of habit, which I suppose is what your point is. “Ooh. That must be YaTingPom. He does that. And visits midget dinosaur porn websites”
It’s more to do with the cookies from those websites I want rid. It’s just like staring fresh.
Strangely I’ve changed the websites I used to visit before I came here.
I use Bing but only because you can turn off safe search!
If you’ve got a smart phone and email address (same one for 20 years!) then you can be tracked.
But do they know your name and birthdate?
Not likely, unless you’ve voluntarily given it to them or one of their subsidiaries, but I don’t think they care much.
I’ve got a friend who uses the same login ID name for all and every website he registered with. Must be going on 100 now.
One Google (Bing) of that and bingo it leads back to name, DOB, address, pictures of him etc. everything.

Bing was caught using Google behind the scenes a couple of years ago. It was a big scandal.
I wondered if some smart arse would say “Google owns Bing!” but I wasn’t sure.Alexandra wrote:Bing was caught using Google behind the scenes a couple of years ago. It was a big scandal.
Yeah that’s pretty funny really. I didn’t know that but as I said Bing is less restrictive than Google which is why I use it. I tried that DuckDuckGo but didn’t like the GUI (see techy speak. Yo).
Last time I was in IT they’d just released a HTTP server for their platform. 96 ish it was.
I’ll give you a clue; everyone hated the email client (and probably still do) and tried to use Outlook but as an admin it was my job to lock out users admin privileges which drove the users bonkers. Funny as fuck because they were mostly engineers, with proper beards and dodgy jumpers, and about as threatening as a midget.
Anyhoo. Off topic, sort off.

I always think of Google as a female. Why, because it doesn't let you finish a sentence before making a fucking suggestion.

You're welcome young minx.Alexandra wrote: ↑Fri Jan 24, 2020 2:40 pmThe particular annoying ads YTP mentioned did not stay. If you still see them nuke your browser and try again because they are gone.

I have no idea how to nuke my browser because this is a telephone.
There was one that popped up with a pretty girl promising to make me really happy of which I approved otherwise these are all i get
And they're all over the top of my windscreen like when you hit someone on a country road and have to get that car washed down in the barn fast.

Suggestion: Make the Quick Links sticky so they stay on the top of the page as you scroll down, saves a ton of up scrolling if you are far down on a page and want to head to Unread, or something else.

I'm sure it's been recently mentioned but K440 is just about the only site I visit where clicking on an external link takes me out of the site to the actual linked site/page rather than opening it in a new tab.
There's nothing I can see in the user settings on here to change that behaviour and my browser is set to open links in new tabs. Obviously I can and do right click>open link in new tab to get round it but what's that about?
