They bring money in. It was just an experiment, relax. It was obviously a bad strategy for the forum because they became annoying quickly.
There will be changes to monetize the site. Feedback always welcome.

Fair enough. Thought it was my browser that’s all but I’m on an Apple so I didn’t think it was.
You need to get some advertisers on board, obviously. Get on the phone and get marketing. Numbers game. Eventually someone will say “Yes!”

I would never want to get in the way of someone earning either but I've got adverts encouraging me to buy mobile homes in total shitholes covering half my page on everything i open (on a phone).
I don't want a mobile home in a shithole. Should I do the formerly ubiquitous "clear your cache" ? Not thst i know how to.

Doesn’t make any difference. It’s embedded in the page (or whatever the technical term is, hard coded? It kinda does, as google looks at your activities from Google search, YouTube, Google Maps, etc, also sees your advertising-related activities when using websites and apps that include Google's ads.YaTingPom wrote: ↑Fri Jan 24, 2020 10:12 amDoesn’t make any difference. When you click on an ad that you see on the web, Google remembers what the ad is about, and adds that data to your advertising profile. Based on all this, google estimates your interests, based on your sex, age, location and other data that it has about you.
You can turn off the personalised bit going to here https://adssettings.google.com/authenticated
Ok. Ya got me.
I was seeing if I could afford a caravan in Clacton on Sea the other day.
The shame.

Well each time it’s been some dating site which I’ve not searched for or ever looked at so D- for Google algorithms.chubacca wrote:It kinda does, as google looks at your activities from Google search, YouTube, Google Maps, etc, also sees your advertising-related activities when using websites and apps that include Google's ads.YaTingPom wrote: ↑Fri Jan 24, 2020 10:12 amDoesn’t make any difference. Also, why would I create an account on Google so I can control adverts? That’s just giving them the details they want, at the very least a valid (clean) email address which they can use for marketing or sell on.
I use Bing. Youtube doesn’t track my searches. I use a VPN (especially when on someone else’s WiFi) and I clear my cache and cookies every week or so.
I’m very aware of my profile since the early 00’s and am very careful about what details I give out. (Most of what I write is made up)
But thanks for pointing out the bleedin obvious.

It doesn't matter what you give them, sorry.
Like other large companies, Google builds shadow profiles even of anonymous users in incognito mode. The browser that you use, the locations you access their services from, whether you're logged in or not, how you use a website and what websites you use and so forth are all trackable indicators they use to identify you.
Already in 2013, 40% of all Internet traffic passed through Google servers https://www.forbes.com/sites/timworstal ... -internet/
You can clear your cache and cookies all you want. The fact that you do in itself is detected by Google services and it is part of your behavioral pattern that builds the shadow profile they have on you.
The type of device you use, the resolution, the software configuration, the websites you habitually visit, how long time you spend on a page, what type of page you spend time on... You can change the device but your habits will eventually be connected with previous data stored about you, because there's a very few amount of people in your area with your behavior, and the more you use the internet the more data they have to narrow it down to find the only you in the haystack.
All your online behavior creates a fingerprint that is used to identify and track you.
Only the guilty need be afraid. Socialists that type of thing.
But I really have never wanted a mobile home or a book by Billy Graham.
Why am I getting that?
It's as if some Texan has hacked my account.

I don't seem to be getting many adverts. On this page there's dancing roads but they are paid advertisers and another for H n A Tiger foil! That is it.
k440, something to do when you're pissed.
They don’t just look at what you have searched for and regurgitate it back; they build up a picture of you based on your online activity.
They clearly picture you as a bit of a red neck. That’s the downside of posting selfies of yourself wearing a MAGA hat online. There’s a price for everything Rob
