Oh and I've taken some pretty good lumps.
Shit. Maybe I should jump off the Jesus bridge. (Popular saying in Quebec)

The problem now is that you cannot be sure what exactly they did to your computer. Not to freak you out but there is no way you should be doing any on-line banking, personal stuff ect on the computer anymore. Whatever was on there before, if they were malicious... they now have it. I would save photos ect on an external drive ($50), take the computer to a proper computer shop and have them do a clean install of windows and / or buy a new computer. You should be able to get a pretty decent new tower for under 400$. Better to be safe than sorry a second time. I wouldn't trust anyone that basically held my computer hostage remotely for an entire day. You certainly got scammed for $300 and hopefully thats the end of it. But... I wouldnt trust that computer anymore.

Yes wise advice and there is some sensitive stuff on my computer. Fuck Tax time here and I've stored some investment and banking shit that I shouldn't have on it. Not to mention passwords for everything. Except banking of course.kansaicanuck wrote:The problem now is that you cannot be sure what exactly they did to your computer. Worst company ever. I truly believe this a fraudulent company. They requested no they demanded you authorized your payment via email, taped agreement as well as a signed canned statement. All of which I did only to receive a call from the billing manager stating they will not service my laptop until I promised on tape not to dispute my credit card charge. It all started with an error message telling me to call Microsoft which turned out to be Breaklogic company. Needless to say I went elsewhere to have my laptop serviced. I truly do not recommend hiring this company, very shady.

This company is a joke. They like to take advantage of elderly people and those who are not very computer savvy. My mother was using the internet and she got a pop up saying she was infected. Her trial virus protection (from another company) had run out. The pop up had the number to call in order to fix the virus issue. She called the number and they said the only they can only help for $399.00. This was for 6 month protection and lifetime support. Which is extremely OVERPRICED!!! They then offered the same plan to us for only $299.00. They basically bullied my mother into purchasing this saying that the only hope for her computer was through their virus protection. She provided her credit card information and they charged the $299 plus the continued to charge her for $99/month for support!!!!! That was supposed to be included. Not to mention even after we paid their exorbitant fees the computer is still infected and not usable. The computer is not even a year old. I called them back and they refuse to help us. They said the computer is fixed. Long story short...they infect your computer then charge you to remove the virus. Which they do not remove. They simply enter your computer, steal your information and leave you with a hefty bill and unusable computer. What a bunch of scammers. Everyone I talked to there was very rude and pushy. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!!! YOU WILL REGRET IT!!!!!

At best the company has done a half assed clean up job with freely available software - something you could have easily done yourself.
At worst they have stripped every bit of personal detail that your computer contained & will either use it, or sell it on.
If you get another computer/re-install Windows on this one then you need to take a few simple precautions yourself.
1. Is to use Windows Defender
2. Download & use the free version of Malwarebytes - https://www.malwarebytes.org/mwb-download/
3. Download & use free version of CCleaner - http://filehippo.com/download_ccleaner/
That will NOT guarantee that you will be virus free, but will at least give you a fighting chance.
You should also seriously look at using a Linux Distribution as an OS, rather than Windows. It might take a small amount of personal effort at the start, but is free & will certainly make sure that you don't get caught up in a scam like this again....

I'd love to visit the exact site again and see the results after their handywork. But then I guess I'd really be a sucker for punishment wouldn't I?
