Ssd's have come down in price a lot recently as well as capacities increasing. An samsung 850EVO 250GB drive goes for about $88 in the US but are still about $150 at chantra laptop shop. Has anyone seen a local price closer to the us price?
An ssd will make your old pc feel like a new one being upto 5 times faster (500MB/sec) than your old hdd (100MB/sec). If you have a desktop or some of the newer laptops you can get a new drive style called m2 which is 4 times faster again (2.2GB /sec) .

Try ebay. I have at least 3 or 4 items arriving each month . Yes still need to be careful about fakes but you do have good buyer protection through ebay and also through paypal. Just do some research on the seller.
Amazon will not ship most electronic gear to Cambodia. Don't know why?

I was in the market for an SSD in October 2015. I looked in many of the computer shops in PP; very few had SSDs, none had drives larger than 500Gb, and none had drives at "good" (ie: online) prices. I haven't looked since then.
Unwilling to play the "will it arrive/will I get stung for stupid import duty/will it even work?" I chose not to go the Amazon/eBay/AliExpress route. I got a 1Tb Crucial SSD brought out by some visitors from the UK in November.
Installation was a doddle and even in an older netbook with only a SATA2 interface the speedup is very noticeable.
If you're installing in a laptop then it makes sense to go for at least a 2x capacity increase over your existing HDD. For a regular PC the capacity increase may be less compelling depending on your usage.

IT prices for spare part here at like 20/30% more expensive than what we get in the West.
Shitty Transcend 500Gb SSD are priced here at 190USD, we can get Samsung EVO or Crucial or SanDisk ones for 110EUR, yet China is nearer from Cambodia than from Europe so it can't be shipping costs...

If it doesn't say "new" then they're not, hence low prices. Also, if it does say new, it might still mean "not old" rather than fresh from the manufacturer.
Not sure about previous comment on doubling capacity in laptop but not desktop? I have a $250 GB SSD for the OS for speed on desktop and then 4TB (or whatever) of HDD drive space for storage. For the laptop I just gor for the speed SSD again and just keep a small amount of data on it.

40% would have been $270. so not true.

All 3 of my purchases that arrived last month were over $200. each only $3.25 total for all 3.dv8inpp wrote:If you're purchases are under $200 then you don't pay tax.
