Broken screen on iPhone
Broken screen on iPhone
So my iPhone has a broken, cracked screen. My questions are
1. When the replacement is done does the phone need to be turned on?
2. If I change front and back is it the same, need be on or not?
3. Is there a repair place anyone can suggest that will do while you wait and watch?
I've been warned not to leave my phone or it will get robbed of its original parts, like car or moto with a not so reliable mechanic.
Oh, I'm in pp, thanks for any help.

Only advice is to not bother with the iOne service centre. Their only option was to hand the phone in to be sent back to some mystery Apple location and then give you a big discount (half price or so) on buying a new one ...
The downside I've heard though is that on iPhone 6 and beyond, the device can sometimes detect it has been tampered with and shuts itself off entirely - expensive door stop. My cracked screen is bearable probably until I replace the whole phone anyway, interested to see if there are any recommendations as there certainly were shops repairing iPhone 4s & 5s without issue (I know this as the wife broke both of those models also!)

^^^^ Got my 5S done for $40-45 in SV. I'm sure it's after-market bullshit, but it's worked like a charm for a couple years.

Find somebody like this. Should have a few around the local markets here.
Be sure to keep the cracked screen! Original parts are expensive.Lindy wrote:I've been warned not to leave my phone or it will get robbed of its original parts, like car or moto with a not so reliable mechanic.

I've used a small shop on Street 128 between Central Market and Monivong. I can't remember the name of the shop, but if you walk from Central Market down 128 towards Monivong, it's a few shops down on your right. They've replaces broken screens on both iPhones and iPads for me. Very good service.

Thank you Scobienz, were any of your iPhones 6 or later?
The problem of it not starting again after a non Apple place opening it is a bit worrying.
I hope you don't throw them in temper?
I never would, someone makes me that mad I'm throwing their phone not mine

I can't remember which models they were, but they have a very good record. Their name is mentioned on the forum somewhere else with lots of recommendations; I just can't find it right now.
No problem re non-Apple dealer. I've never had any problems with them.
