Opennet and SMTP
Opennet and SMTP
I'm trying to configure and SMTP connection in my outlook but am unable to do so. Has anyone got outlook working with opennet? The problem appears to be the vietnam govt requires all outgoing smtp servers to go through one of their designated servers.

Not sure if that will help you, but if you have a gmail address, you can use gmail SMTPS

As far as email servers with OpenNet, i'm not even sure they have working ones for their customers

Not using outlook here but sending mail via an SMTP server on a shared host in Hong Kong via Opennet works for me.

The trouble with using google as your outbound server is it will replace your from/reply-to address with your gmail address which is probably not what you want. I think if you pay them an annual fee they let you send without switching your address.

Do you routinely run a VPN? I find if mine is active there is a high chance of the connection to the SMTP server failing. Haven't worked out why; I just stop the VPN temporarily or wait until whatever needed it is finished and resend.

I created an email on one of my websites and use that as my outgoing smtp server, seems to work.

PIA block most SMTP servers to prevent users from spamming. You can contact their tech support to whitelist the server IP addresses or you can use firewall rules so your mail isn't tunnelled.walkjivefly wrote:Do you routinely run a VPN?
