Windows 10 Cumulative Update KB3176934 Available Now
There aren’t any new UI changes in this update, but the updates are under the hood.
According to the Microsoft Support page:
If you have installed earlier updates, only the new fixes that are contained in this package will be downloaded and installed on your computer. If you’re installing a Windows 10 Version 1607 update for the first time, the package size for the x86 version is 144 MB and the package size for the x64 version is 263 MB.
We have released Cumulative Update (KB3176934) to Windows 10 Insider Preview Build 14393 on PCs which will bring the build number to 14393.82. This Cumulative Update includes the same fixes as KB3176932 but with an additional fix: Improved download size optimization of updates.
EEEEERRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGG! Nutbars... as I have been patiently waiting for this fix to fix the fix, I got really excited when my system asked to restart just a while ago. After the update, I was working on this post when... SYSTEMS FREEZES ... just like everyday since the new 1607 build. I hope the idiots at MS will continue to work the problem.

If you don't like companies with a history of sending local file names to Amazon and other partners you should look into this instead. Mint is actually based on Ubuntu but without spyware and it also ships with the most common video and audio codecs, and trust me as a new user you probably don't want to find out how you need to install those on Ubuntu.

^^ Thanks... I was thinking ubuntu was some sort of Linux. Yes... totally new to Linux. I'll read the user guide and probably choose the cinnamon 64bit. Still thinking about the MacBook Pro though as I don't want my on board OS to start freezing up... it's bad enough as it is.Alexandra wrote:Ubuntu Spyware: What to Do?, authored by the founder of the Free Software Foundation and GNU: https://www.gnu.org/philosophy/ubuntu-spyware.en.html

Maybe depending on hardware but I have found Mint to be a bit of a swine on Bluetooth devices & VPN setup compared to the Ubuntu version it is based on.
I still use Mint rather than Ubuntu or Windows as my main OS though.
VPN via Windows 7 in Oracle VM when I need to & just plug in the Bluetooth stuff instead.
I think Mint is a great deal easier for a not very technically minded user to go to from being a Windows 7 user than 10 or Ubuntu are..

What is the issue?
VPN's (openvpn) are easily configured on Linux. Configuring rules in iptables can give a few headaches though.

My Mint CD arrives today. Can't wait. I was happy to learn in my research that a VP program was not necessarily needed. The poster did add a VP to use with Linux if you needed/wanted one.
Does anyone know a good forum for Mint... will probably have to ask a few HUNDRED questions about the install. I found one and registered but couldn't get the registration email to hit my inbox? Any suggestions would be welcomed.

There is the Linux Mint subreddit. Ubuntu forums are usually helpful and many of your questions will probably be more about Ubuntu and Linux in general than Mint in particular. You can always ask here on his board, or why not in this thread, and I'm sure me and others can help you out as much as time allows.
