Has anyone used a wireless network extender & if so, is it effective or worth the effort?
I primarily use a MacBook & the signal keeps dropping in & out yet on my Android phone there is rarely a problem. I understand Apple products have a history of WiFi issues however my landlord keeps the WiFi router on the floor below me so hoping an extender may assist.
I was thinking something along the lines of http://www.prolink2u.com/newtemp/networ ... 3702p.html
Cheers
Wireless Extender
Just use your Android phone as a wifi hot spot and connect your MacBook to that.

You can buy this model all over Phnom Penh:

I use it at home and it works well. With WPS it can be setup with one click.
To be effective it needs to be placed in a location were it can get a three bar signal, any less and it gets sketchy. As you've got a floor in the way, somewhere on or near the stairs would be best.

If you're always working on the same spot you might also try to direct the wi-fi signal towards that spot by creating your own alu-foil satellite disk shaped antenna and removing obstacles:

Might be an idea for those on a budget.
