simple question on dual sim phones
simple question on dual sim phones
I should be getting a dual sim phone today. Oneplus 3. I have never had a dual sim phone before. If I have two sim cards both capable of calls and sms messages then can I receive calls and sms from both cards or do I have to decide between one of the two? It is my understanding one has to opt for one of the two cards for LTE or 3/4G. Thanks.

On the phone i had with dual sim, I had a choice of choosing a default sim...but still being able to switch to the other or always making the choice between the two each time i used it for calls and sms. I could always receive on both no matter what...but if already on phone call the other wouldn't ring (actually have no idea what would happen in such a scenario as never happened for me)

Yes, you can use both for calls, both for SMS, just not at the same time. When calling on SIM1 you can not receive calls on SIM2. Usually SIM2 is connected to your CPU using a cheaper (slower) connection, meaning if you use SIM2 for 3G / 4G speeds will be terrible. Might not be the case on more expensive phones, but the OnePlus will have this problem, so set SIM1 to be used for your data connection.JJones wrote:I should be getting a dual sim phone today. All phones will let you decide whether you want to decide on a case-by-case basis which SIM to use, but that can be annoying in the end, so most will just set a default SIM for certain actions. Usually you can set a default SIM for:
- calls
- SMS
- Data connection
I have default set for the latter two, I like to choose which SIM to use manually when I make a call.
The caller would hear the tune for a busy recipient. Around here something like "neak tuol re sap nis asdfa som mdong tiet som ahkun".violet wrote:but if already on phone call the other wouldn't ring (actually have no idea what would happen in such a scenario as never happened for me)
