A question for programmers and other that use a computer monitors for long periods.
I would prefer a 32" 4k monitor but they are very expensive and 32" 4k TV aren't available in the usual outlets. If I were to buy it purely for TV use then a 43" 1080P (actual pixels 1920*1080) is good enough for me ($300 ish).
Aren't the pixels of a 40' larger than a conventional monitor, so you have to sit further away not to be bothered by individual pixels? A typical 40 inch 4k TV has about 100 pixels per inch, a laptop with a nice screen over 200.
Kachang is on the money. It's pixel density that matters to the eye so if you make a screen larger but keep the same 1080 resolution then you'll want to sit further back.
It's not such a big deal for TVs as people tend to sit a certain distance from them but for monitor that you have set up right in front of your face, the difference is going to be noticeable.
Also, there's not much 4k media around for a TV but for a pc the extra real estate will be useful and it would help with photo editing etc.

I already have a 46" 1080p next to the computer and it is good when I want to surf from across the room, about 4m away.
Final setup now. The setup is 80cm wide and about 40cm tall. So no tilt head movement only slight panning.
Can show a full A4 page on the Dell monitor 1024*1280 in this mode and lots of room on the 1650*1080 for working on web pages.
Has trouble trying to share the picture using google drive so ended up using dropbox again.
