Of course. Where is the modem though...
If it's on my property and my backup generator is running then it should be ok. I thought the router was a modem-router combined.
Is there something else apart from this which needs lecky?
sure. that's what I was saying. if our backup power is on and Ezecom has a backup on their end the internet works during a power outage (which it does for our apartment).

Here in Siem Reap, Opennet has also there own power backup, I don't know if it's the same in P.P. If you use a laptop and a provider with a own power backup, buy a small UPS, a good one cost around $65 and you have, with only the modem connected to the ups, enough power to keep the modem running for hours.

Thanks to all for your feedback. I think the best options for my needs are:

Ezecom
UPS
Small Generator
Apartment near Naga World

It's imperative that I stay connected to the Internet from my laptop in my line of work. If I do get disconnected, I have less than a minute to get back online.

Just one more question. Let's say the average power outage lasts for 3 hours. Is there are UPS that can supply power for this length of time? If so, I wouldn't need a generator, right?

I appreciate your help.

Cheers!

Correct me when I'm wrong, but according my knowledge, the ups I use is 1kva, that's 1000 watt . My Opennet modem is 9v by 0,85 amp, the use is than 9 x 0,85 = 7,65 watt. Conclusion: plenty power to run the modem for hours.

Could you tell me where you bought your UPS and the price? Thanks!

Your UPSs and voltage stabilizers should be rated at 25% more than what's plugged into them.

@Orkuncha For around $65 you can buy a ups, good enough for a modem and for a small light bulb.
Where? See the list above, I bought mine by PTC.

A bar that has fridges has warm beer. A bar with ice bins can truly server ice cold beer. Also saves on you power bill.
No Internet coverage? Try IPoAC

I think the easiest is to have a Smartphone with 4G and to use tethering and if you want to be super safe SIM Cards from different providers. I worked on my 4G for a few hours yesterday, watched some Netflix etc without any issues.

SInet Internet Outage Affects the Kingdom
November 6, 2018 cne

*Some of you may have noticed some major issues with the internet yesterday, including this website. To find out what went wrong, we asked Mick, our tech-guy to try to explain in layman’s terms what caused this inconvenience.

From approximately 5:45am on 05/11/2018 there was a Denial of Service attack launched against a major Cambodian Internet Service Provider, S.I.Net. The attack brought the company’s internet services offline until 4:25pm on the same day. The 10+ hour outage affected S.I.Net’s ability to communicate with other Internet Service Providers in Cambodia via the Domestic Exchange, crippling their internet connection and bringing their services to a halt for the majority of the business day.

Users of the S.I.Net network were faced with high packet loss and frequent dropped connections for the entire day. The outage affected all users of S.I.Net Internet and businesses using the SInet Data Center on Preah Sihanouk Boulevard in Phnom Penh, including Sokimex, Aeon, Sathapana Bank and many more local companies.

For the duration of the outage the provider failed to provide transparency and estimated recovery times to their corporate customers, causing ripples across the industry. Thus far the company has refused to comment on the specifics of the outage and is yet to release details of their implemented resolution and mitigation strategy.
