Hello, everyone, and please accept my apologies if this is a painfully naive, and/or redundant question. I've just joined the forum because I'll be moving to Cambodia from the United States in about six weeks -- so I'm just getting my feet wet in the discussion fora like this one. Thanks for being patient and understanding.
My question today is this: I own a 20TB personal movie collection which I keep stored on four external hard drives, and an I/T friend of mine here in the states predicted a "near-100% chance" that these would be interdicted by Cambodian customs officials at the airport. That sounded ... well, improbable, to say the least, so I was wondering if anyone here would like to weigh in? He seems to have based this prediction on what he fancies as insider-status on the question of internationalized intellectual property, but his sentiments are like nothing I've heard anecdotally or come to expect about the process of arriving in Phnom Penh on an E-class visa. Surely people who come to the Kingdom to work must bring significant data storage capabilities with them all the time, no?
Thanks in advance and, again, sorry if this post is in any way annoying.
Bringing external hard drives to Cambodia?

If I had that much porn, I wouldn't even leave the *house* -- much less the country.

Customs won't care, but if they ask you to explain the contents of your hard drive, just tell them its probably just some technical stiff like circuit boards and microchips.
My posts are just jokes, maybe they're rude, offensive, and politically incorrect. They're not my opinion, viewpoint, idea, or judgement, but they're just fucking jokes so lighten up.

That's a pretty big assumption on his part. He sounds like he might be a leading member of your national armchair brigade.an I/T friend of mine here in the states predicted a "near-100% chance" that these would be interdicted by Cambodian customs officials at the airport.....He seems to have based this prediction on what he fancies as insider-status on the question of internationalized intellectual property

What customs?
I regularly fill in the customs form with stuff like: name Osama bin Laden. Occupation terrorist and tick all the boxes saying I'm carrying this and that.
On the way out I long ago gave up removing laptops, tablets and liquids from my bag. Nobody gives a fuck.
Somebody recently told them you have to take your shoes off though. That's irritating.
And I think that morose little spaniel that used to approach you looking for love, not drugs, has either kicked the bucket or been put out to pasture.
Or eaten I spose.

Not exactly sight-unseen -- four previous visits on tourist visas -- but the guide will be an invaluable resource, not least because it may spare me the embarrassment of starting fifteen naively redundant threads in here on topics that have already been beaten into the ground. Brought 3 on my last trip. No problem. But they were the small 2.5 inch types

I think he's more likely to get interdicted by ladyboys on the street than at the airport...
