Disclaimer: I am somewhat computer savvy, but I am not a programmer/computer scientist by any stretch of the imagination (read; I am usually good enough with a search engine to find a solution to IT issues...)
I have two issues related to Khmer script that I hope someone here might be able to help me with:
1. Ever since my operating system (Fedora) updated to Wayland (a display server protocol) text in khmer script is not rendering correctly; especially subscript consonant seem not to work (see here for for an example of how ខ្ញុំ shows up for me). While switching back to X as a display protocol "solves" the problem, it is my understanding that Fedora - like most other linux distributions - is moving everything towards Wayland, so it would be nice to get Khmer script working there. Haven't been able to find any useful help online so far; does anybody know of potential solutions or websites specifically related to khmer IT issues? I realise there may not be a ready-made solution, but I would be willing to pay someone to figure out a solution, should anyone have any recommendations for Khmer programmers....
2. I have a smartphone phone running (a fork of) LineageOS and haven't yet found a good keyboard. I know I could theoretically use gApps to grab the Google keyboard that comes with Android, but the whole point of running LineageOS is to not use Google products. Besides, I am far from convinced that a Google keyboard won't collect data from my keyboard inputs.... Does anybody have any recommendations for keyboard apps that have khmer language functionality? I don't necessarily need a spellchecker included, just the script would be okay.
cheers,
Flo
