Hi, I have a paid VPN Service, but it expires in a short while, and I’m low on my finances… So, I’m checking around for a free VPN in the meantime.
The App Store and the ‘Net more or less say that all their VPN’s are the best. And since ‘free’ (usually) means free, ‘paid for’ (usually) means you get what you pay for… I get that, I’m just wondering if anyone got a free VPN that is noticeably superior to other free VPN’s and why is it better?
Recommended Free VPN?
The trick with using VPN's from Cambodia, is to have a VPN which does have "nodes" at locations you can reach from Cambodia without going through saturated Internet pipes. This usually implies, you need to avoid a connection through Vietnam.
From Phnom Penh, you usually get a direct connection Phnom Penh - Sihanoukville - Singapore/Malaysia through the sea floor cable between Cambodia and Singapore/Malaysia, when you use the VPN node in Singapore/Malaysia. This route is usually not saturated, whereas the route through Vietnam (and maybe Thailand too) is.
However, there will probably very few VPN providers who do have a free to use node in Singapore/Malaysia.
So, IF you want to have a good connection, I think, it will be very difficult to do so as a freebie.
I do use ProtonVPN, which does have several Singapore/Malaysia nodes, all with pretty good connections to the rest of the world. ProtonVPN is not a "cheap" one, though pretty good quality and serving tor, netflix, p2p traffic for paid accounts. They even do have elevated security VPN solutions, for those located in evil countries.

Thanks, v12. I didn’t know the comings and goings of Internet traffic. Interesting to know.v12 wrote: ↑Wed Jul 28, 2021 3:57 pmThe trick with using VPN's from Cambodia, is to have a VPN which does have "nodes" at locations you can reach from Cambodia without going through saturated Internet pipes.
