Dr. Sok stated:

Dear compatriots as well as concerned institutions, should stop posting pictures like this on social media, because foreigners and those who benefit from tourism sector are taken to pollute the world, making them not dare to visit Cambodia anymore. That post is like we are breaking Cambodia tourism sector ourselves.

Other countries also have more similar incidents than us, but they cover up and take effective measures.

Romantic Cambodia is dead and gone. It's with McKinley in the grave.

Dr. Sok Out-of-touch

People don’t visit Cambodia because there’s nothing to do there. They knew what they were doing when they Belted and Roaded Sihanoukville for short term profit.

Actual LOL.

Bet the farm on Chinese tourism, allow Chinese mafia to lead the way.

Pandemic hits, need the mafia to continue the scam businesses- sell passports to highest bidders, thus making the news when they get caught.

Post-pandemic- the nicer things are gone, the Chinese/Taiwanese are afraid of the mafia, thanks to the press/media.

End result- you fucked tourism through short sighted greed.

But.. it's ok, the Indians will come next *cue Indian mafia arriving with new scams and suitcases of cash to get passports in the name of Sok Sochandra.

I think Dr Sok massively overestimates how many potential tourists are actively following Cambodian Facebook groups.

If you’re at the stage where you’ve joined a bunch of Cambodian social media groups then you’ve pretty much already decided to come.

This is cautiously optimistic, with November as a likely deadline. For fully vaccinated travelers, mandatory tests but no more quarantine
