Cambodian PM declares assets to anti-graft board
Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen has urged civil servants to meet an upcoming deadline for making a mandatory declaration of their assets, as he took his turn.
Hun Sen said he was pleased that more than 10,000 officials have already made their confidential declarations to Cambodia's anti-corruption agency. About 25,000 are required to do so by April 7, or face up to a year in jail and a fine of up to 2 million riels ($500).
The requirement is part of an anti-corruption law first proposed 15 years ago but adopted only last year. Cambodia is routinely listed by independent groups such as Transparency International as one of the most corrupt countries in Asia.
Hun Sen told reporters his monthly salary is 4.6 million riels ($1,150).

Cambodian PM declares assets to anti-graft board
HE told reporters his monthly salary is 4.6 million riels ($1,150).
ummm, I'm not a professor of economics or anything, but how does telling us your income constitute declaring your assets?
I thought assets were houses, land, shares, companies, cars, jewelry, cash in banks etc.
Why haven't any of the "experts" questioned this?
it's obvious none of the cowardly Khmers ever will, but how about our embassies and our govts who feel that it's ok to keep pouring our money into these third world shitholes?

You don't need to be a professor of economics to read the articles on this - what is in the declaration is confidential, what the article said the PM told the reporters was not his assets declaration:
http://au.news.yahoo.com/thewest/a/-/wo ... raft-push/More than 100,000 state officials and heads of civilian organisations in Cambodia are required to make declarations of property, vehicles, business interests and other assets under the anti-graft law that was approved in
There is nothing more Australian than spending time in somebody else's country

hahaha, so what is the fucking point?Spad wrote: what is in the declaration is confidential,
You have to declare your assets, but no-one is allowed to see what they are, except presumably the Anti-corruption board who are a bunch of cowardly govt appointed psychophants.

"Psychophant"? Is that like a rogue elephant? I think you meant "sycophant", no?LesterCabbrucho wrote:hahaha, so what is the fucking point?Spad wrote: what is in the declaration is confidential,

The point is that if someone gets charged with graft, they compare the declared assets against the assets in question, and thereby have a basis for prosecution.
You're very outspoken about the "cowardly Khmer" etc. So when is your public protest against graft scheduled and where?

Why would I protest? It's not my country and I'm not a citizen. Do I come across on the forum as a Khmer?Jacked Camry wrote: You're very outspoken about the "cowardly Khmer" etc. So when is your public protest against graft scheduled and where?
For me and other westerners it's better that the corruption stays and thrives. It keeps the masses down, keeps labour cheap which in turn keeps everything cheap. It's a good place to come and exploit. That's the only reason 99% of westerners are here. It's not the quality service and products or the cleanliness and efficiency. It's because it's cheeeeaap.
If, in my country, the govt took the piss as much as these guys do I'd be sure to join the millions of others who would be protesting and taking action.
The Khmers need a little of the Egyptian-Libyan bravery shot up their lazy arses but that will never happen. Have a look at their history. A bunch of kids sacked PP in 1975 and a handful of men and these kids killed off a million people without resistance. In 1880 the King, who knew what his army was like, called in the French (of all people!!) for protection against the neighbours.
If, in my country, the govt took the piss as much as these guys do I'd be sure to join the millions of others who would be protesting and taking action.
So this might be a dumb question for some but I only speak Americanese, what does 'took the piss' refer to? Also, does Hun Sen have any daughters? Are they hot?
