Yes, sure - let's go down that road and leave the deceased in peace.
I came, I argued, I'm out
This is not about smearing some Frenchman's name, it's about what people think of this country, when they read the news, they want to know why it happened. All respect to the diseased and innocent infants.

I have no idea, there is nothing to suggest that he was anything but a loving father, whose wife died in childbirth, and then was murdered along with his kids. You really do get some screwed up people posting on this site, it's a real shame.LTO wrote:In the times that I met him and his (then very young) children, I saw no evidence that he was anything less than a loving and doting father or that the children were anything but happy. I can't imagine why you, in admitted ignorance, would say such terrible things about him, now unable to defend himself against your slander. Wasn't enough that he and his children were murdered, now you want to drag his name through the mud?? Why would you do that?
Romantic Cambodia is dead and gone. It's with McKinley in the grave.

From today's PPP:andyinasia wrote:Even a junkie would have a hard time cutting off his own head and stuffing it in a suitcase. If you want the junkie line, he had a relationship with his young neighbour who nannied his kids. She was bitter when he broke it off; her brother (and immediate neighbour of LV) was/is a notorious junkie. The pair of them had the motive and the neighbourhood point the finger at them. I can't understand why the Kompong Kops aren't calling them in for further questioning.henryhungfunny wrote:It was a nissan patrol so no "trunk"or 'boot'.My frog friend has a farm out there in Kompong Spue and told me the man was a junkie. That province has a long history of bad shit.
...Chem Rithy, an investigating judge with the Kampong Speu Provincial Court, said that investigators had issued a summons to the brother-in-law of Vallier’s wife for questioning.
“We will question one man who is the brother-in-law of the wife, because he used to have arguments with Vallier before,” Rithy said.
“We do not accuse him, but we do more investigation because that man also used to use drugs before...”

Who inherited the land?

Does anyone have a link to the pictures of the family-in-law?
I think they were published when the case first broke

Nobody, officially. It's when the in-laws tried to 'collect' their 'inheritance' in conjunction with the village chief that the police nabbed them for questioning.keeping_it_riel wrote:Who inherited the land?

Dont the boys look over the moon with the nuptials, his wife looks nice.
Someone once described khmers to me glowingly as "without guile".
It shows in that photo.
It's a terrible story, did not mean to be disrespectful, but living here, where any crazy Khmer can haul an axe around chopping barangs up and seemingly get away with it, brings nothing but a cold hard ironic jovial approach up in me.
Nothing personal, junkies should not be living alone with 4 kids like that though imo. Maybe something really creepy was going on there beforehand, who knows.
Sigh, and that's the worst thing about Cambodia. Not the Khmers, with their own brand of craziness, but Team barang basher who get no more pleasure from doing anything other than sticking the knife in the back of their fellow foreigners.
Sick jokes and insinuating that a foreigner who was murdered - with 4 young children no less - shared certain hobbies with one Mr. Savile. Some people really outdo themselves for tact.
I do hope they catch the killers, child murderers are public enemy #1. I wish they could send the killers to a prison where the prisoners could give them what they deserve. If the family showed him the cold shoulder after her death I wouldn't put it past those delightful fellows in the picture to decide "if our family can't have the kids, no one will".
