And now the blue muppets, possibly indirectly responsible for his disappearance, are doing the investigations... Only in Cambodia.
Good to read that Siem Reap's Public Relations Police is leading the investigations

After reading the many comments and concerns about the disappearance of Dave Walker, I have decided to at least offer my contact information concerning possible investigative work on this case. I knew Dave from my years in BKK.
First, thank you to several people, you know who you are, that made comments about me concerning the finding and recovery of Denis Jones in Kampong Cham province. Your comments were appreciated.
Denis' parents flew back to the UK on the 28th. They were able to fulfill Denis' wish to have his ashes spread on the Mekong. This was done on 22 February, after the service at Wat Ounalom. Many friends were at the service and later at the wake.
I know Mr. and Mrs. Jones appreciated your attendance at the service and at the wake. You helped them in some small way to gain closure and the chance speak with Denis' friends from Cambodia.
My contact email is - [email protected]
My contact phone number is +855 (0) 12 519 245 It is 24/7.
I will not speculate or comment on the case at this time. However, I will state this, there is still much to be done!
Thank you in advance for your time and possible contacts.
Regards,
Robert Scott

DAVE WALKER’S DISAPPEARANCE
The hunt for missing Siem Reap expat Dave Walker, a Canadian journalist and filmmaker, took a bizarre turn last Friday afternoon, when the call went out that a foreigner’s body had been found at Wat Krom.
Police and reporters rushed to the scene, as did Walker’s business partner Sonny Chhoun, who was advised to attend to identify the body if necessary.
But when all the parties congregated at Wat Krom, the word went out that the body couldn’t be found.
A quick investigation unearthed the truth: A radio station had broadcast that a body had been found at Wat Krom and a police informant figured that the Wat Krom in question was the Wat Krom just outside Siem Reap township, near Tonle Sap. But there is also a Wat Krom in Sihanoukville, and that’s where the body was found.
The incident must have been gut-wrenching for Walker’s business partner and mate, Sonny Chhoun. He’s been through the wringer in a number of ways. First there’s the emotional component – his best friend simply disappeared. Secondly, Chhoun was earmarked as a suspect from day one and given a hard time by police. Recently he spent several days in protective custody and subjected to long bouts of intensive questioning. He’s now being watched closely as there are also fears for his safety, given his knowledge of Dave Walker’s affairs.
Last week Canadian Interpol operatives reportedly scoured Walker’s computer looking for clues, and the investigation now seems to be centered on Walker’s business activities with members of the Khmer community, both here and in Canada in places such as Edmonton and Keswick.
A lawyer based in Phnom Penh has also been appointed.
Walker was in the process of raising $3.2 million for a movie he wanted to make and of late was believed to have asked for assurance that money that had been raised by Khmer contacts came from legitimate sources. Many believe that this venture is behind his disappearance, and investigators in both Canada and Cambodia are now following the money trail, also assessing whether money laundering was an issue.

“I don’t have to tell you anything! I don’t have to tell anyone anything! fuck off! I don’t have to say anything! I don’t have to tell you or anyone! No way! I’m done with this! I’m putting it behind me! I’ve had enough!”
“David and I were business partners! Only business partners! He was not my friend! Business only! He owed me! I worked hard for that guy! I worked and worked for him!

So, this would be the same Sonny that would drop into Snow's from time to time?horace wrote:I know Sonny from years back and I find it hard to believe that he would kill a man for what 20,000$
You sure it's the same guy?
Reading prahocalypse's link, it sound's more like 'had had killed' rather than 'killed'.

If my business partner disappeared and some investigator kept badgering me about my "alibi" I'd probably tell him to fuck off too eventually.

"Chhoun, Long and Salao are known to each other and the investigation shows all premeditated to obtain financial gain from Walker and Walker’s disappearance served all of them further to ensure their criminality would remain hidden".horace wrote:I know Sonny from years back and I find it hard to believe that he would kill a man for what 20,000$
I read what you say about Chhoun, but what interests me are these other 2 characters. I have a suspicion, they're a lot more involved.
It could be that Chhoun will not disclose his alibi because it will directly implicate Long and Salao. Is Chhoun being threatened, intimidated, blackmailed?
These other 2 guys need more scrutiny.
I'm grasping for a motive though. The $20,000 was withdrawn by Chhoun prior to the disappearance leaving a minimal balance in the ac, there's no more money, so why kill Walker, if I deed he's dead?

Dave was in the process of trying to raise more than $3 million for a film project. So if any of his business associates were looking to defraud him, they may have seen 20K as the tip of the iceberg.horace wrote:I know Sonny from years back and I find it hard to believe that he would kill a man for what 20,000$

Westerners would think like that. Most Khmers wouldn't. They'd be dazzled by the $20k and think short term rather than long term. This guy Dave has been offed, hasn't he? The only question is who offed him. It's pretty easy to figure out who'd have a motive. Just follow the money.prahocalypse now wrote:Dave was in the process of trying to raise more than $3 million for a film project. RE the fact that Dave was ''in the process of trying to raise more than $3 million for a film project', wannabe producers all over world are constantly trying to raise money for film projects and very few of them succeed. Who's to say he'd have raised much more than what had already been collected. Why would his killer or killers hang around indefinitely waiting for a possible larger pot that might never happen when they could get their hands on a certain $20K today? '

Is that actually a photo of Pol Pot's toilet ? He actually had a western style crapper rather than an asian squat one like the ''peasantry'' use ? I always thought you could have been killed for having a toilet like that during those times.
