Street 51 accident report
Agree with Cambod on the "yield" thing at night. Approach every intersection with care, and be ready to stop, or slow down, when someone is coming the other way.
Both parties involved were equally at fault tbh. But one may learn a lesson from it all and be more careful at night. The other will put it down to bad luck and go to pray and tie another red band to his bike.

Safety advice from the man who doesn't wear a crash helmet and espouses drunk-driving.cambod wrote:The only safe way to drive here at night is to assume the other street ALWAYS has the right of way.
Must be solid.
ירי ילדים והפצצת אזרחים דורש אומץ, כמו גם הטרדה מינית של עובדי ההוראה.
The reason for the yield is that your brakes are not good enough to stop.cambod wrote: I said YIELD. I didn't say park when you come to an intersection and see another vehicle.
Yes, the helmetless drunk driver that is a very skilled and careful driver who has yet to be in a collision here.vladimir wrote:

Me driving at my worst is better than you at your best, most likely.
Ha! I can stop on a dime.Bosco wrote: The reason for the yield is that your brakes are not good enough to stop.

And don't forget not insured. Paying $60 a year for a bike insurance that's way to much for a skilled driver, leave that to pussies.vladimir wrote:Safety advice from the man who doesn't wear a crash helmet and espouses drunk-driving.cambod wrote:The only safe way to drive here at night is to assume the other street ALWAYS has the right of way.

Judging by how I see young Khmer men drive motorbikes every day of the week, my hunch is the local dude was most probably driving at speed. with no lights and flew across Pasteur/51, where he had no right of way, without even bothering to slow down, look right and left etc.
He's got a broken pelvis? Well at least it'll keep him off the roads for a while.

Yeah, because every barang drives sober and slowlyGeneral-Z wrote:^ That would be my guess as well.
If it was Cambod at least he would have yielded even if was so drunk he couldn't keep his moto upright.

It's probably safer to bet they were both speeding and they both assumed they had the right of way.
I saw the accident from an angle and the newspaper got it wrong - It was the Khmer guy doing low flying down 51, with no way to stop if someone was busy crossing.
That's a reliable source there folks!Biltong wrote:I saw the accident from an angle and the newspaper got it wrong - It was the Khmer guy doing low flying down 51, with no way to stop if someone was busy crossing.
