Kampot Province
-A python weighing 43 kilos slithered its way into a cage where 3 pigs with a combined weight of about 200 kilos were kept penned and squeezed them to death. This occurred in Ondoang ChiMeun Village, Kampong Treng Commune, Toek Chu District.
-The farmer to whom the pigs belonged stated that he could not pinpoint the time the python first arrived on the scene, but stated that at 1:25 am Tuesday, the 16th of September, 2014, he had heard the sound of a pig squealing. Both he and his wife went to investigate with flashlights and suddenly encountered the sight of a large python, which had squeezed to death 2 pigs previously, in the process of suffocating a third pig as it squealed and struggled within its coils.
-Seeing the state of things, the farmer and his wife yelled out to neighbors for help and in the meantime they beat the python with sticks to make it release the pig. The farmer finally managed to immobilize the snake with some rope, and neighbors helped pull the python apart, but by then the 3rd pig was dead also.

-CEN provides an epilogue: The python was handed over to the Toek Chu Zoo with a request made to Okhana Nyeum Vanda for some funding to buy some more piglets because the 3 lost pigs had been raised for over 4 months with money borrowed from an organization. -This Cambodian variation of the English fairy tale has essentially the same moral to it: Build your pigpen like a brick shithouse when there are pythons about.

I guess the CD covered this story too:
http://www.cambodiadaily.com/news/escap ... out-68136/The last and largest of the hogs, weighing 89 kg, escaped death but remains traumatized, he said.
“One is alive but it’s not eating, because it’s still shocked by the python’s cruelty last night.”

if the 3rd pig had built himself a house of bricks, he'd be alive today.prahocalypse now wrote:The title sounds like a Khmer fable.
What is the moral of the story?
There was an article about the owner of the python. It seemed he had some form? I think the article said he entered into an agreement with an Australian couple to operate his private zoo, as he did not have the funds to care for the animals - ha, ha. After some months the Australian couple pulled out, due to contractual issues. Operation reverted back to the general. I believe he stated that if he is unable to feed his animals, he will eat them.
