Seeing as how I pointed out that the country has produced an entirely new set of 1:50,000 scale maps in the early 2000's, you should be pretty clearly aware that this statement is not true.MONEYBACKGUARANTEE wrote:Yes, but evidently they haven't found one who can make a map.ken svay wrote:Have they found a Cambodian who can read a map?

Great idea, Cambodia should should stop being so dumb and just knock up a new map, once they're done we can give it to the Vietnamese who no doubt will thank us for our work and enshrine it into law immediately. Pathetic.

Yeah, that's pathetic.
You do know that borders are imaginary lines created by humans, they aren't something that's actually there?

Well, Jacked Camry says "the country has produced an entirely new set of 1:50,000 scale maps in the early 2000's". So there you go, they just "knocked up a new map." But you're right, starkmonster - borders are just, like, so totally authoritarian and stuff, right dude? They're just imaginary lines created by humans, bro! Now pass me that doobie.starkmonster wrote:Great idea, Cambodia should should stop being so dumb and just knock up a new map, once they're done we can give it to the Vietnamese who no doubt will thank us for our work and enshrine it into law immediately. Man, I've seen some idiotic posting before, but you're setting a new standard here mate. Next you're going to tell us that you're looking at the actual map but it's got two different borderlines just because you started drinking early this morning and are seeing double.

MBG - "Snarf snarf. Look at the dumb Cambodians, they have to borrow maps from the UN."
Other well-informed posters - "Actually, there are several good reasons that they might borrow such maps, ranging from the poor condition or loss of maps during the KR to political machinations by the Machiavellian PM to gaining crystal clear provenance that can't be challenged via the UN."
MBG - "Bah - why can't they make their own maps, they've had decades to do so? Too stoopid?"
Other well-informed posters - "Actually, they can and have made their own maps of higher scale in the early 2000's."
MBG - "Humph - when do they take their own responsibility to demarcate their own territory?"
Other well-informed posters - "Actually, they are and that's why they need these maps, because you can't just draw the borderlines you like then tell your neighbours "here you go, you're on our land." Hence they need the French maps as part of that process, a fact evident to anyone who's got the ability to read and reason beyond a Grade 3 level."
MBG - "Of course I'm aware that the French made maps when they ran the country. But I'm ignoring that because...I don't have basic reading comprehension or understand the point of why one would look at historical maps when determining historical borders. I think you can determine borders by just making a new map and presenting it to your neighbour. But they can't even make their own maps!"
Other well-informed posters - "As we explained, you can't do that with borders and they can make their own maps. Are you drunk, stoned or just thick?"
MBG - "HA! You insulted me, therefore I am clearly winning this argument."

Is the key question.Felgerkarb wrote:What maps do the Vietnamese use?
AFAIK the VN gov only recognises maps made in 1985 & 2005. They don't recognise the map of a colonial power they defeated in a war. Houston, we have a problem.
Nb. It's in today's Vietnamese news:

I came, I argued, I'm out
That article is far more cogent than what I've seen in the Cambodian press.andyinasia wrote:Is the key question.Felgerkarb wrote:What maps do the Vietnamese use?
