When he was with Smile Mart, he found out that Khmer440 members were discussing cashiers shortchanging people at his stores and he came on Khmer440 and gave an explanation and used his real name. Maybe he'll do so here. He could say "Hey, that's not me" or "Hey, those guys deserved it" or "Sorry I was just drunk and wanted to bash something."

If that was me I'd hide my boat race.
If I had thrown a brick through the front windscreen of a car after chasing them down, I too would hide my face.
Okay, here's a better, more faithful translation of the whole article than the half-arsed one in the thread starter (which I did hastily from my phone, so blame it on me).gavinmac wrote:Can someone provide a translation of the article?

Phnom Penh: According to a reporter from Daem Ampil News, at 22.30 at night, on July 10, 2015, an incident causing surprise occurred on Sisowath Quay street, in front of the Tonle Sap Restaurant, in Sangkat Wat Phnom, Khan Daun Penh, in which 3 men, who were driving a (Camry) "Chlam", silver color, bearing the plate number Phnom Penh 2M-0593, drove into a Mercedes, black color, with plate number Phnom Penh 2H-2959, driven by a foreign man, and two passengers, 1 male, 1 female.
Eye witnesses at the scene said that the "Chlam" driver, after hitting (the Mercedes) and not stopping, tried to flee, but the foreign man got off (his car) to catch the vehicle, which the driver still refused to stop, leading the foreign man, who was angry because of colliding and not pulling over, to smash the window at the front of the vehicle of the offender (note: here's where I'm not sure what is meant) by his hand, causing the window to break.

After smashing (the window), the foreign man didn't flee anywhere but instead kept arguing about who's right who's wrong at the scene until the police intervened.

Were the drivers still in the car when the smashed in the window? That's pretty dangerous shit.
The Khmer driver did wrong, but the Westerner also did wrong. And no, they don't cancel each other.
It wouldn't be too wrong on the merc driver's part. If they were aiming to run without reparations then teaching them a lesson is fair game. The wrongs they did don't necessarily cancel each other out but... A Lot of people have learnt a lot of things from this incident.

He's still in the wrong for causing damage to a private property.0zirC wrote:Joon wrote:Traumatized? In the same way one can't minimize the seriousness of the beating of a person because he/she slapped/threw their phone at the guy who sent them to the hospital first.
Just double-checked and at the end of the video (starting at 2:00) you can see the damaged rear-end of the Merc.Joon wrote:I don't recall. Granted, we know how reliable Khmer newpapers are so it is 50/50.
Also we only see the Merco from the front. Maybe it was bumped into from the rear or side.
You're being anal, gavinmac.

If I were a Westerner in Cambodia with a wife or girlfriend (farfetched I know) in my car, I don't think I would go after hit and run drivers, then jump out of the car, leaving her alone in it, and start a confrontation with Khmers by going apeshit on their vehicle, leading to possible retaliation against my vehicle and whoever is in it.
To me, it suggests that he cares more about this car than his companion. Maybe I'm a pussy though, perhaps chicks dig that angry guy stuff.

Yeah, chicks dig guys who cower in their cars and allow fuckwits to pull a hit and run with a shrug and an "ot ay te".gavinmac wrote:If I were a Westerner in Cambodia with a wife or girlfriend (farfetched I know) in my car, I don't think I would go after hit and run drivers, then jump out of the car, leaving her alone in it, and start a confrontation with Khmers by going apeshit on their vehicle, leading to possible retaliation against my vehicle and whoever is in it.

There is no evidence it was a hit and run. In fact the report indicates otherwise. The Camry rear ended the Merc donor was behind the Merc. The supermarket guy got out of his car and stopped them from driving away. There is no sign that a chase happened. It seems Super Duper guy got out of his car and threw a rock at the Camry windscreen with them in it.
It's a dick move.

John's translation is quite clear. According to witnesses, the Camry dudes hit the merc, tried to flee, he chased them down, they still refused to stop. Witnesses = evidence of hit and run.

These type of hit and run locals are just as likely the sort to do a runner after plowing through someone on a motorbike and leaving him to die in the road. You could almost say its the norm over here.

Alright, I plead guilty to approximate translation because of filling the blanks that were in Khmeralanclarke72 wrote:There is no evidence it was a hit and run. The Camry driver was driving away and SuperDuper probably stood in front of the car. It may be that the Camry driver tried to force SuperDuper out of the way by continuing to drive forward, at which point it would be legitimate to hulk smash the windscreen. But that's just speculation.
