An ever lasting line of drunk party girls in a riverside hostel.... I have to agree.Gin&Tonic wrote:If the guy did rape her and then went back to the party as if nothing happened indicates that this is unlikely the first time he has committed something like this. Or he is a complete psychopath void of any empathy.Joon wrote:If that was me and I was terrified of that guy, I would most probably let him do his deed in hope that he doesn't injure or kill me. Then I'd probably feel sick and lock myself up in my room.Chuck Wow wrote:The falling down the stairs part is only part of the story...
Everyone of you stop and think for a second.. You are pissed.. You have just been raped, probably bareback by some sick fuck with a history of violence...
The guy has finished what he wanted to do and is calmly walking out of the room back to the party as if nothing had happened.
How steady on your feet would you be?

Yes, I saw that too... the headline would have you believe he is some kind of serial rapist and this is another of his victims.gavinmac wrote:This headline hardly seems fair:

^ This is sloppy translation, because in Khmer the headline was meaning "A British man was arrested on accusation of raping another British national."
Reading the "article" it sounds like just a translated rehash of the DAP article.

The dudes at the rooshvforum are discussing the case. They make Khmer440 readers seem really smart and well-adjusted:

According to Facebook Kampot Noticeboard, Laycock has been released and the charges dropped.
Word on the street is Good News!!! - All charges were thrown out of court today and the accused Nick was released.. What could have been a horror story for this poor lad has at least ended with positive news after the Arcadia crew stood strong and presented video evidence and the girls retracted their statements after they had seen the video evidence of her falling down stairs and also leading the accused off for a "bit of fun"... Shame on the British Embassy for their lack of support and huge respect to the Arcadia crew for their determined efforts not see a serious injustice done. Much respect to them and to Nick for what he has had to suffer for the last few days. - ALSO SHAME ON ALL THOSE WHO JUMPED TO THE WRONG CONCLUSION B4 KNOWING ALL THE FACTS - utter scum - you know who you are..

There once was a chav from slough
who went to court for raping a cow
The court threw it out
Because the cow remembered nowt
That lucky young rapist from slough.

Rated R for Ricecakes
Seems the details of the 'falling down the stairs' part of the story has changed since last night.

So what happened here?
Not often you here the press cheering the court for dropping rape charges against her accuser after being convinced after the fact that she was wrong about being raped, especially here in Cambodia. If we moved this story from Cambodia to the UK, would the Mail still be cheering for charges dropped against an accused rapist by a victim who couldn't remember the details of her encounter with him?
That aside, what happened here? If this guy really didn't assault and rape her, then why were rape charges filed? Is the guesthouse still sticking by the story that all the white people are perfectly innocent, and the only evil people in this story are the Cambodians who forced this poor woman to sign a complaint against her will, then unjustly arrested the guy out of spite and corruption? Or are the Cambodians now the good guys for having arrested an accused rapist (even though the victim later recanted, which rape victims are sometimes known to do), and then the Cambodian court having rightly found the truth and released him? Will the guesthouse be posting about how great the Cambodian cops are anytime soon? And who made the charges of rape anyway? Did the evil Cambodian cops just pull that out of the blue, or did she and her friends make the accusation and then later retract it? If so, what's up with that? What's the logic here? 'Not sure what happened so lets just go ahead and put a guy in prison for 20 years'?

Here's a song about Slough:gavinmac wrote:Someone sent me this poem about Slough:

"The Eton Rifles"
Sup up your beer and collect your fags -
There's a row going on down near Slough
Get out your mat and pray to the West
I'll get out mine and pray for myself
Thought you were smart when you took them on,
But you didn't take a peep in their artillery room
All that rugby puts hairs on your chest
What chance have you got against a tie and a crest?
Hello-Hurray - what a nice day for the Eton Rifles, Eton Rifles
Hello-Hurray - I hope rain stops play for the Eton Rifles, Eton Rifles
Thought you were clever when you lit the fuse,
Tore down the house of commons in your brand new shoes,
Composed a revolutionary symphony,
Then went to bed with a charming young thing
Hello-Hurray - cheers then, mate. It's the Eton Rifles, Eton Rifles
Hello-Hurray - an extremist scrape with the Eton Rifles, Eton Rifles
What a catalyst you turned out to be:
Loaded the guns, then you run off home for your tea -
Left me standing like a guilty schoolboy...
What a catalyst you turned out to be:
Loaded the guns, then you run off home for your tea -
Left me standing like a naughty schoolboy...
We came out of it naturally the worst:
Beaten and bloody, and I was sick down my shirt.
We were no match for their untamed wit,
Though some of the lads said they'd be back next week.
Hello-Hurray - it's the price to pay to the Eton Rifles, Eton Rifles
Hello-Hurray - I'd prefer the plague to the Eton Rifles, Eton Rifles
Hello-Hurray - it's the price to pay to the Eton Rifles, Eton Rifles
Hello-Hurray - I'd prefer the plague to the Eton Rifles, Eton Rifles
Eton Rifles, Eton Rifles!
Eton Rifles, Eton Rifles!
