LTO - you sir are correct. I actually think that it's a pretty wild claim but bizarre enough to throw out there to see what reaction it brings. Plus Walker's death has fallen off the radar and should be looked into.
Chkwoot - previously medical evidence apparently showed that Fletcher didn't do the crime he was convicted for. According to the media reports. That being the case he may or may not still be paedophile. However if we believe in any semblance of justice and fair trials people shouldn't be convicted of crimes unless there is evidence that proves their guilt beyond reasonable doubt. Presumably you would agree that is a better system than lynching people on hearsay? Or maybe you don't? Perhaps if you had shared your cast iron proof with the authorities Fletcher would have been convicted on that, perhaps earlier and preventing further abuse, and he would have no grounds to.appeal or for the media to cast doubt on his conviction. It's easy to come out in hindsight and say " I knew he was guilty all along." That helps no one. Certainly not the victims. Just saying.

Them taking his passport might have made fleeing a little awkward.Gin&Tonic wrote:If the victim was [edited by Admin] I would think he would have left the country instead of going to the authorities regarding the assault and theft.
Seems like a bullshit excuse by the perpetrators and I'm a bit disappointed that some posters here would believe that without any evidence whatsoever.
I know the victim and thought he was a bit of a creep around the 14/15/16 year old girls he taught. I later heard a few more things he'd done that seemed a little 'groomy', and considered warning him off. After I spoke to the girls in question and they said he hadn't done anything inappropriate, I decided to just tell them to stay away from him instead.
Even if he's completely innocent of whatever they accused him of, I can easily imagine how someone might have got the wrong idea about him from the way he acts.

Fugitive Guido James Eglitis photographed in N'Joy bar and restaurant in Bangkok's Sukhumvit Road entertainment area on Monday night.
Bangkok: An Australian man wanted in Queensland on kidnapping and torture charges has been photographed socialising in Bangkok bars.
Australian authorities made no attempt to have Guido James Eglitis,70, extradited from Cambodia where he was arrested last year following the alleged robbery and assault of a British man who reportedly fled the country in fear of his life.
Witnesses have seen and photographed Eglitis drinking in the N’Joy bar and restaurant in Bangkok’s Sukhumvit Road entertainment area on Sunday and Monday nights.
He was also seen drinking in other bars in the area.
Queensland police said in November last year, when Eglitis was being held in a Cambodian jail, they were “making inquiries” in relation to his extradition to Australia.
Eglitis was committed to stand trial in Brisbane in 2007 on charges of kidnapping, deprivation of liberty, robbery, impersonating a police officer and possessing restricted items.

Interesting article. I wonder why they deported him. It's my understanding that most Westerners aren't deported after serving short-ish prison sentences in Cambodia.STEVITO wrote:More on the story from Phnom Penh Post http://www.phnompenhpost.com/national/w ... ign=buffer

Served in the Australian Navy for between 14 and 16 years, according to several sources. The U.S. justice department head of the major crimes unit, who prosecuted and jailed Eglistis in the 1980’s and 90’s, said he had served 14 years as a “radar officer”. Eglitis’s Brisbane lawyer said it was “15 years. Eglitis himself, in a November 2013 interview with the Phnom Penh Post newspaper, using the name James An, said he had been in the Australian military for 16 years.

Moved to the U.S.: Lived and/or worked in Huntington Beach, Newport Beach and Santa Ana California.
In 1983 Eglitis “immediately got involved in boiler-room activity. Since that time, he has bounced from one boiler-room to the next in four different states and has scammed investors throughout the nation," according to the head of the Major Fraud Unit of the U.S.Justice Deapartment.
1984-1986: Worked as an account executive at a Newport Beach California telephone marketing operation called Intech Investment Corp. Intech operated from late 1984 until early 1986 and bilked an estimated 400 victims out of about $2 million.

1987: Eglitis was held at Terminal Island federal prison since his arrest in the Intech scheme in November 1987. Indicted on Federal charges in California November 1987 on 32 counts of mail fraud and interstate transportation of stolen property.
By 1987 Eglitis was under investigation by the FBI in Chicago for operating another telemarketing scheme called Whitehall Commodities, said Kacy R. McClelland, a postal investigator.
1988: Sentenced to 4 ½ years in U.S. federal prison.
February 09, 1988 he pled guilty to fraud charges in Orange County California court to precious metal sales schemes and characterized by the federal prosecutor as "one of the more notorious of the boiler-room salesmen" in the nation, pleaded guilty in Los Angeles federal court to two counts of mail fraud stemming from two separate precious metals sales schemes.
Under the name James G. Eglitis, he was an account executive at a Newport Beach telephone marketing operation called Intech Investment Corp., and was indicted November 1987 on 32 counts of mail fraud and interstate transportation of stolen property.
March 08, 1988:
Eglitis was sentence to 4 ½ years in U.S. federal prison for a years long U.S. “nationwide” investment scam effort where he stole millions of dollars from American investors in a telephone sales fraud against precious metals investors :
A federal judge in California sentenced himfor “repeated involvement with telephone-sales fraud in Orange County to 4 1/2 years in prison.”
James Guido Eglitis, then 40, plead guilty to mail and wire fraud working on behalf of Intech Investment Corp. of Newport Beach, California.
Eglitis also ran his own fake companies and was the sole principal of the California Mint, a firm with offices in Huntington Beach and Santa Ana California.
The head of the U.S. Justice Department Major Fraud Unit said Eglistis ran schemes to swindle people investing in precious metals who lost $2 million in Intech and $500,000 in California Mint.
In addition to the prison sentence handed down in Los Angeles, U.S. District Judge Manuel L. Real gave Eglitis five years' probation and ordered an unspecified amount of restitution. Prosecutors had sought the maximum sentence of 10 years.
"We recommended 10 years for Eglitis because of his extensive conduct," said Assistant U.S. Atty. Terree A. Bowers. "He would jump from boiler room to boiler room, and repeatedly went after the same victims. In one case, he went back to the same person three different times. He would bleed them dry and keep going until they had nothing else to lose."
Despite a probation report recommending the maximum penalty for Eglitis, Judge Ramsey sai, 10 years wouldn't be fair "in light of what the other defendant got."
Eglitis criminal cohort was the head of Intech, Matthew Valentine, of Newport Beach. Valentine was accused of ordering the beating of Randy Elvidge, a former employee who discovered the swindle and urged investors to withdraw.
January 1989:
Charges were dropped in 1989 against Eglitis who had been indicted by the U.S. federal government also in Chicago.
Eglitis was charged for working for the Chicago based fraudulent investment schem of the Whitehall Investor International Inc., charged with obtaining $1.2 million from more than 100 investors around the country by fraudulent telephone sales pitches from the former company`s offices at 175 W. Jackson Blvd. in Chicago and in Florida and California.
The indictment charged that that Eglitis lied to clients about commission charges, the types of investments, the amount of trading and potential risk, and then excessively traded customer accounts until the balances had been reduced almost to zero by commissions.
1996: Back in Australia, he was accused of , under the name Guido James Eglitis, having sold futures to three Sydney investors. He possessed no futures trading license.
2003:
In October 2003, Eglitis was charged in Brisbane, Australia court for Defamation in a suit filed by Ian Sidney Cotton, Plaintiff on 24/10/2003 against Giudo James Pomar aka James Eglitis, COTTON Vs. Pommar 9554/03
2007: Eglitis, using the name Guido James Eglitis, of Warrnambool in Victoria (Brisbane court)
On April 21, 2007, Guido James Eglitis, while posing as an Australian Federal Police Officer kidnapped Ronald Sydney Ryton-Benson in the Pacific Golf Club car park at Carindale in Brisbane. Eglistis posed as an Australian FederalPolice Officer and handcuffed Ryton-Benson and forced him into a white van at 3:30 PM on April 21, 2007 and driven to a residence in Annerley in Brisbane. There he was tied up in a chair bolted to the floor and Eglitis and an accomplace, David Thomas of Annerley, demanded money from Ryton-Benton.
Ryton-Benton managed to free himself after approxamately 4 hours and flee the residence and contacted authorities.
Eglitis was committed to a higher court and charged with kidnapping, two counts of deprivation of liberty, robbery with actual violence in company, impersonating an officer, and possessing restricted items. Eglitis was also charged with possessing restricted items - two sets of handcuffs and an extendable baton - and falsely posing as an Australian Federal Police officer.
On April 23, Magistrate John Smith denied both men bail, declaring there was an "unacceptable risk" they would interfere with witnesses.
Eglitis' lawyer, Peter Russo, said his client was based in Victoria but was a "man of means who can get accommodation wherever he lives".
David Thomas, of Annerley, was processed through the Brisbane Magistrates Court on for his committal hearing.
The victim has, also, a long history of financial crimes, with Ryton-Benson subject to "a number of complaints" to the Australian Securities and Investments Commission, the Queensland Police Service, and the Australian Federal Police and major crime squad.
Eglistis’s co-accused, Thomas, had heavily investedin the finacial scams which his own defence lawyer called “a Ponzi scheme”, and lost a large sumof money. Eglitis acted as the enforcer and was accused of torturing the plaintiff after kidnapping him.
The Ponzi scheme was linked to a major U.S. financial criminal syndicate that was run by U.S. citizen William Scott Dohan, who imprisoned in the United States after being convicted of fraud-related offences. Dolan opened up a Branch office in Brisbane Australia and several Australian investors were said to have lost “millions of dollars.”

What a complete cunt.
Thayer is right to be aggrieved. Almost unfathomable that the AFP and DFAT would let an animal like that roam free.
Where is Lindsay Murdoch on this?

Probably doing a double facepalm at the 57 errors of spelling, fact, and grammar in this Nate Thayer classic, and wishing he'd pursued a career in engineering or something instead.Petrol Head wrote:Where is Lindsay Murdoch on this?
