I wonder if the CPP thugs knew when they signed up that they'd be served up as patsies.
Big man made a live telecast last night that cut into my wife's Khmer game show, to her chagrin.

Surely it can't have been cheap? How much did it cost, will it be in the budget?
Whoever is behind this, of course HE, CPP and his progeny were going to use that to their advantage. Show their concerns, show that they care about democratic, non-violent modes of expression and that they'll call for justice for the CNRP victims of violence.gibbon arms wrote:I wonder if the CPP thugs knew when they signed up that they'd be served up as patsies.

I predict that the special investigative commission will conclude that these were CNRP or third-party agitators.
On another note and in relation with the groundbreaking interview of Hun Manet.... The Hun family is going on a charm offensive. Manet's, Mana's, Many's Facebook pages are showing young, good looking, well-mannered, soft-spoken, caring Cambodians, it's difficult to associate them with their father's and the CPP's old strongman ways...

Will be interesting to see how things pan out in the years to come.Joon wrote:The Hun family is going on a charm offensive. I would like to see Mu Sochua (milf) get in the mix a bit more. I mean she did her part in the post election mess but I haven't heard much from her since. Maybe convalescing back in Berkeley.
Sometimes this town reminds me of Game of Thrones, on decaf.

Actually, in the immediate aftermath it did not seem a given that the CPP were going to use this as a tool to show their concern afterward. It seemed like a throwback to the late 90s - straightforward unapologetic thuggery to intimidate the opposition. Now, perhaps it was, as seems to be being suggested here, just a set-up for HS to come back and play the good guy, showing himself to be a democratic, culture of dialogue, rule-of-law kind of guy. That would be classic for the chess master, playing a couple moves ahead, sacrificing a knight in an apparent rash move in order to gain board position. But, is it possible, just possible, that he isn't in control of everything, that their may be other CPP (or military) factions at work?Joon wrote:Whoever is behind this, of course HE, CPP and his progeny were going to use that to their advantage. The problem with that is that this Facebook ' charm offensive' by his kids includes his youngest son and MP who happens to be leader of this nazi youth movement members of whom have been shown to be putting their jackboots in. For me, youngest son has a case to answer, and I don't for a moment believe he would have had a hand in this if he wasn't under orders.Barang_doa_slae wrote:My thinking tooLTO wrote: But, is it possible, just possible, that he isn't in control of everything, that their may be other CPP (or military) factions at work?
I find the hypothesis that this was a quick-fire spiteful response to the protests in Paris to be quite persuasive at the moment. That didn't leave time for careful planning, just an old-school knee-jerk in the ribs response, and only after suddenly realising that we live in a social media world.
I came, I argued, I'm out
In the immediate aftermath, I recall H.Many or H.Manet take it to Facebook or the media, saying they value peace. I need to dig through my feed to read exactly what they said.LTO wrote:Actually, in the immediate aftermath it did not seem a given that the CPP were going to use this as a tool to show their concern afterward. ^ It was the former. It stuck in my craw somewhat, for the reasons I mentioned above.
