The most telling comment in that story is the claim that all of the Sihanoukville economy is built on the 5000 Chinese who live there. What a desperate place it must be.

Maybe they could replace the Chinese with our unemployed Nigerian friends? I hear they're all pretty good dealers.
My posts are just jokes, maybe they're rude, offensive, and politically incorrect. They're not my opinion, viewpoint, idea, or judgement, but they're just fucking jokes so lighten up.
Would that be Black Jack and his mates? If not , the place will turn into a Ghost Town will only a few scary barang living there.

If our friends were there then it would definitely be a ghost town, because it would be full of spooks?Jep wrote:Would that be Black Jack and his mates? If not , the place will turn into a Ghost Town will only a few scary barang living there.

Mate, take a look around you and inhale the aroma of the rubbish filled streets of The Penh.alanclarke72 wrote:The most telling comment in that story is the claim that all of the Sihanoukville economy is built on the 5000 Chinese who live there. What a desperate place it must be.
You are living in a capital that is probably just below Mogadishu in the ''Top 100 Sh!thole Capitals of the World''.

Just how long has the economy of Sihanoukville been built on the Chinese? There've long had a few Chinese projects in Sihanoukville and nearby but I thought the big explosion of Chinese down there has happened just within the last year or two. I only see the place every couple month, so I could be wrong, but I thought the Chinese buying up all the hotels for their gambling dens and workers was largly this year's phenomenon.
Also, regarding their supposed mass exodus, as I have written elsewhere, if the Chinese are leaving Sihanoukville because the cops are rounding up criminals and ne'er-do-wells that also happen to be Chinese, then I suspect there is more to their hasty departure than ethnic fidelity. I wonder if these people who are threatening to leave have their passports and work permits in order, how much they were profiting from or working with the deported criminals, if they have all of their permits in order for the gambling operations they are setting up down there, and what else they might be involved in to make them start worrying about the police. Imagine if the barang threatened to leave en masse because the police were rounding up white pedos and thieves and others with long expired visas and no work permits. What would that suggest of those barang threatening to leave?

Correct

Agreed... maybe the tea money under the table was not enough.

I thought the Sihanoukville economy was built around LaudJohn. I'm disappointed to hear that's not the case.
