Edit, todays number is 4, of what i'm not allowed to post...
The thread got deleted by one of the mods, i'm not allowed post about the frequently Khmer rape cases anymore, unless there's barang involved...

Can we make requests for positive news stories instead?
Ok, I'll start:
I would like to hear of someone leaving a wallet, or handbag/manbag, or laptop, or expensive smartphone in a taxi / tuk tuk and having it returned to the owner.
Preferably a tuk tuk driver (to counterbalance the spurious claims of a malicious tuk tuk mafia).
'Victim' should be barang (and NOT intoxicated). Optional: being pictured teary-eyed.

I've a thread on that, but it's from across the border, don't know if that counts or not

Nope, not quite what I'm after. That heart-warming tale is from Thailand. I want to hear of something in Cambodia. (From Krong Preah Sihanouk would be ideal).boomer wrote:Stagger Lee wrote:Can we make requests for positive news stories instead?

I got $100 note changed yesterday at a place I don't normally go.
After for $50 in reil and $50 in dollars.
Walked away after receiving the Khmer portion only. Really wasn't paying attention.
The Om on the stall shouted several times - i could hear her shouting but didn't realise it was at me. So I Ignored her. She left her kiosk and ran after me to the edge of the market & handed me the cash. Then she legged it back to her kiosk.
I probably wouldn't have realised until later that day when I would have guessed that I had simply lost the money.
Ever seen a older Khmer lady run? It's quite funny.
I was sober (stupid but sober).
Sadly I didn't cry.
After for $50 in reil and $50 in dollars.

Something like "No barang that raped locals so far this year in SHV." Don't have a link to support this though...Stagger Lee wrote:boomer wrote:Stagger Lee wrote:Can we make requests for positive news stories instead?

That's a bit beyond the pale. I want to read things to lift the spirits, to restore harmony between expat and host nation, to right perceived wrongs.
Nothing too heavy, please.

No, no, no. I want to see - at a minimum - a photo you with the money changer (a selfie is fine). Optional photos of a reenactment of the old lady hurriedly chasing you would be highly regarded too.

Well, maybe the members of K440 can provide the real-life tales of good will. Any stroke of luck. A surprise turn of events. Something cheery, no little how minor or seemingly trivial. It needn't even involve being helped out by a third party (although those are appreciated).boomer wrote:I only bring reality, albeit in a for many not understandably language...Stagger Lee wrote:@ boomer

That thread about a guy who had fixed his standing fan was a splendid example.
