Sanctions against ex Yakuza boss living in Cambodia
A good story from Khmer Times here. It's an odd publication. Stories like this and Jack's SHV motodop rapist story balanced against thought leadership pieces on kids dyeing their hair. Weird.
The United States Treasury Department issued sanctions Wednesday against a former Japanese Yakuza boss believed to be living in Cambodia, accusing him of laundering money between Japan and the Kingdom.
“Tadamasa Goto possesses deep ties to the Yakuza and has been instrumental to its criminal operations around the world,” Office of Foreign Asset Control (OFAC) Acting Director John E. Smith was quoted as saying in the treasury department statement. “Today’s action denies Goto access to the U.S. financial system and demonstrates our resolve to aggressively combat transnational criminal organizations and their supporters.”
The treasury department said they had frozen his assets in the United States and prohibited American citizens and residents from doing business with him.
Asked yesterday if Cambodian authorities were investigating Mr. Goto, Cambodia’s Interpol Director Lim Sokha Raksmey said that “he had no news about this.”
“Right now I don’t have any requests [to look into his case],” he said.

I don't know, I think this one is a little sloppy. The headline describes him as "living in Cambodia." The article then says he is "believed" living in Cambodia, but doesn't say who believes this, or why, except that he was exiled to Cambodia in 2008 and attended a function in Cambodia in 2010.

Isn't "AE86" (aka "AK87", aka "Akira") back in town? He sure does move around a lot. And wasn't he very best friends with a Jamaican/Nigerian human trafficker/pizza chef? Hmmm.

My stalking sources tell me that CEO's intrepid young Clark Kent, who doesn't in any way translate already published news for fear of government reprisal, may be a new intern at at a newspaper down in Kampong Scum soon.
There goes the grammar....

I've seen a few of the tatts to the collar n cuffs set at the gym. They're definitely around. Like most major organised crime groups really. Cambodia is a perfect place for OC.

My posts are just jokes, maybe they're rude, offensive, and politically incorrect. They're not my opinion, viewpoint, idea, or judgement, but they're just fucking jokes so lighten up.

They couldn't organize a piss up in a Five Men brewery over here.
I know of one very polite Japanese man in SHV, but i had a look at the photo and it ain't him.......which is nice.
I wonder where is SE Asia's equivalent of the Costa Del Sol? More Pattaya i guess?

There are many Asian organized crime figures that live in Cambodia, mostly with citizenship docs. All are represented here through various business vehicles, including banks.

I'm not sure about that.scobienz wrote:A good story from Khmer Times here. It's an odd publication. Stories like this and Jack's SHV motodop rapist story balanced against thought leadership pieces on kids dyeing their hair. Weird.
At least not about the SHV rapist article.
Articles like those tend to present such situations as "scoops".
Problem is, they are not scoops but "business as usual" in this country.
The rapist paid the cops to be freed? So what?
That happens here, everywhere and not only in SHV, every single day and it is the standard rule - not the exception!
People caught for whatever - drugs, rape, robbery... - are FIRST and foremost offered to pay and be free right away.
Most of them do so and there is no judgement, no criminal record, nothing.
The real story would be about how and why this happens - not just pretending to be offended that a rapist in SHV is around the corner the next day.

This is an interesting move from the U.S., seeing as Goto struck a deal with the FBI in 2001, exchanging information about front businesses, crimes leaders' identities, and ties to North Korea for permission to enter the U.S. and receive a deceased 16 year old's liver. (He subsequently donated $100,000 to the hospital in L.A.) When this was publicized, it's what led to Goto getting ousted from the Yakuza, and then he became a monk, and best selling author. I believe the royalties from his book were dedicated to a charity for the disabled in Cambodia, and to a Buddhist temple in Myanmar.
