What did they inject them with? Two accidental deaths, from drinking, or from a bad reaction to a legitimately administered drug, is really weird.

I'd imagine they were injected with some sort of anti toxin medicine.gavinmac wrote:What did they inject them with? Two accidental deaths, from drinking, or from a bad reaction to a legitimately administered drug, is really weird.
It's not all that unusual here, dozens of Khmers die every year from toxic rice wine.
Romantic Cambodia is dead and gone. It's with McKinley in the grave.
Why would their wives - also doctors - inject them with some kind of remedy, which apparently induced a heart attack in each of them? These are doctors after all.
The story has even made the Washington Post.

Rany said she's going to North Korea to get a medical degree. When I asked why, she said, "Oh, no reason."

It's now gone viral with most uk papers like the guardian reporting it, as well as media in Canada etc.

So they just reposted the Washington Post article, which was written almost completely based off of the PPP article. In turn, when you click through the PPP articles regarding North Koreans, they have managed to point out the price of the new museum in Siem Reap is $10 million in one, $24 million in another (only two weeks after the first article linked), and $15 million in yet another. Now, I don't care how much the museum costs, and it is unrelated to this case, but I'm just laughing that the Washington Post is basically copying an entire PPP article with what seems as zero fact checking, even though if you spent 5 minutes reading the related articles you see blatant factual mistakes.PSD_Kiwi wrote: Even lil' old NZ's media has picked up the story...

What annoys me is that the Washington Post does not just reword that PPP article, but actual skews the "facts" that they are copying. They changed "14 North Koreans" to "a dozen"; changed "four North Korean men" to "four unfriendly North Korean men"; stated that the "police chief Khan Khun Tith told the newspaper" when the PPP just wrote "speaking yesterday morning" and "hours later, Tith said" (I have no idea if it was a press release, press conference, or interview, but neither does the Washington Post).
Small changes, but it's annoying that the Washington Post is posting things as fact, such as that they had heart attacks, and then based on the Washington Post's reputation they will get re-quoted. The reporter sat at her desk in Tokyo and apparently didn't even send one email to confirm anything. Mohan should take notes from her on how to legally plagiarize.
This story just gets weirder and weirder:

It now appears that the dead doctors' wives requested no autopsies, and that the police medical guys just lazily accepted their explanations. Also, the deaths were not recorded for at least twelve hours after they happened.

Ok, I'll concede that it does sound dodgy as hell. If only the Koreans had realized that they weren't going to do any tests anyway, they wouldn't have damned themselves making that request.

Did the police ask these ladies "what did you inject them with and how much of it?"

Probably accounts for the radioactive uranium missing from their piddling little 'H-bomb'.

Why would they? Questions like that sound uncomfortably close to actual police work. And depending on the answer, it could lead to even more work for the police.gavinmac wrote:Did the police ask these ladies "what did you inject them with and how much of it?"
