No it isn't. If anything it is the 'culture' of 440 to ridicule whoring and drinking, as evidenced by our love affair with GSM.
fair point - everything is ridiculed.

What's the newsworthiness of this thread? From my understanding, scobienz has stated that "newsworthiness" is the key word for topics of this nature when deciding how to moderate. From all I can tell from this thread, a foreign woman and a local woman had some kind of interaction at a guesthouse in Kampot and the police were involved as the foreign woman was alleged to have used violence against the local woman.
In response to that, multiple pictures of the foreign woman have been posted on this thread, including multiple pictures of her in a bikini. Also posted have been other identifying information like the woman's name and places she has worked and her Facebook information. I understand that these things are available online, but I don't understand the "newsworthiness" of collecting all of this information on this thread here. There doesn't seem to be any real proof of the events that led up to the dispute between the two women and no charges seemed to have been filed against the foreigner. However, this thread collects and keeps all of this information readily available on this woman for people to make comments about good slut fights.
Other threads were deleted by previous ownership right before the sale and scobienz chose to keep those threads deleted because he didn't see the newsworthiness. Old criminal records were not newsworthy. A man that may have been drugged and the prostitute that required the gate of his house to be removed in order to be able to leave was not newsworthy. I understood that logic. I don't see that logic being consistently applied here.
This isn't the only recent thread like this. A foreign man was found on the street after he was either really drunk, drugged, or suffering from a mental issue. Two of those things are not the man's fault. The other is his fault, but does it warrant having photos and video of him kept on here to embarrass him in perpetuity? What is the newsworthiness of that thread.
This site can be a very good resource. Recently, it seems that scobienz is keen to make money off of popular threads that ridicule people for minor transgressions or perhaps no transgressions other than being a victim to a crime or suffering mental illness.
Maybe I just don't know what newsworthiness means anymore but this website seems to be getting incredibly cruel lately. I get taking the piss on other posters that come here voluntarily or on calling out pedophiles or scam artists but these just seems all too much to me.

Of course, the manner in which certain threads are deemed to be not newsworthy and deleted, whilst others remain unedited, points to a conspiracy, between the previous owners of the site and the current owners of the site, to improve the quality of sandwiches in Cambodia.KnightBoat wrote: Other threads were deleted by previous ownership right before the sale and scobienz chose to keep those threads deleted because he didn't see the newsworthiness. I agree it isn't newsworthy and I agree this isn't the BBC. I didn't set the newsworthy standard, scobienz did.slavedog wrote: It's not newsworthy, but this ain't the BBC.

Huh? What the fuck did I do now?
What's this nonsense about former owners deleting threads and me deciding not to reinstate them? When a thread or post is deleted it has gone forever. It can't be reinstated.
This story appeared in Khmer media news channels and online. It happened last week. I don't know if it's newsworthy or not. Why is this an issue that I have to answer for?

If you don't know if it is newsworthy or not, then why is that the key word in criteria for subjects like this post?scobienz wrote:Huh? What the fuck did I do now?

I'm referring to this quote from a previous thread.
The criminal record and issues it created for a pizza man were not considered newsworthy and you had no desire to resurrect discussions about past crime despite the fact that there was a current news article about the pizza man at the time of the post. The incident with the sandwichmaker and the prostitute was recent news on Cambodian news websites at the time that thread was posted here and that post was also deleted and unable to be re-posted because it was also not newsworthy. If I remember correctly, there seemed to be some balancing of the potential crime committed versus the embarrassment the sandwichmaker would suffer from the thread.scobienz wrote: Knightboat has asked for clarification of the criteria for which type of these subjects we should pursue. It's a good question. The key word is 'newsworthiness.' The murder of Glenn is newsworthy, the arrest of an Australian in Siem Reap for allegedly having sex with underage prostitutes recently is newsworthy. I genuinely don't think this story is newsworthy, and have no desire to resurrect discussion about crimes committed when a 43 year old man was himself a teenager.
So what happened to 'newsworthiness'? Or is the new standard that as long as it appears on a Cambodian news website, it is fair game to be posted here along with any recent bikini pictures we are able to find?
I was fine with the newsworthiness standard as long as it was applied fairly. If it is no holds barred, then could someone repost about the pizza man and the sandwichmaker?
As I said before, I don't see the point of this thread. It just seems cruel and not newsworthy, especially with the bikini photos and slut fight comments added on. It is quite the punishment for someone that is alleged to have bumped into another person on a dance floor in a guesthouse in Kampot.
