Turks Move Closer To SHut Down Zaman
Read an article today from Bayon TV, seems that the Turks are sending evidence to their Cambodian counterparts about Zaman's involvement with coup organisers and other seedy works. Turk Embassy is really set on getting it closed, almost like a personal vendetta between the Embassy and Zaman school. I feel bad for the students and parents. Anyone hear any inside info or other relevant info? Will be interesting to watch this play out.
If it makes good money it could be a smart investment to buy it cheap now and change the name.

It won't close, the last thing the government wants is a lot of angry students going on a Facebook witch hunt.

They should be closed down because they are incompetent idiots not because Hizmet (Gulen Movement) has been used as a tool of US Foreign Policy in Central Asia.
The high school lied to parents by telling them Turkish is a European language - 5 classes a week of Turkish and only 3 classes of English. There are so many examples of their idiocy, but I don't have time.
They have been allowed to thrive as an NGO in Cambodia because they offer scholarships to the children of naive but greedy, influential government officials and influencers.
They won't be closed down because it would be a huge loss of face to these people.
I would like to know if Zaman University degrees are accepted by Western Universities. There is a *confidential* list of acceptable Cambodian universities that IDP use for University Entrance to western countries.
It's just a guess from me but I don't think they are, which is bad news for the students.

Turkey: Zaman has involvement with coup organizers that tried to overthrow the government.HakunapiepMatata wrote:Read an article today from Bayon TV, seems that the Turks are sending evidence to their Cambodian counterparts about Zaman's involvement with coup organisers and other seedy works. Cambodia: I know, we have exactly the same problem here. Terrible isn't it?
Turkey: So you will shut them down then?
Cambodia: No

It's the same story in the US too. The Gulen Movement (Hizmet) control approximately 150 publicly funded Charter Schools in the US.
Puts the government in a difficult position, which is part of the reason why Turkey will found it difficult to get Gulen extradited back to Turkey. It will open Pandora's box.

Well that is surprising that they are registered as an NGO. I've talked to a former Zaman University teacher and he told me the admin are extremely aggressive and filter and read every email before it is sent on to its destination. Brother in law has kids in the international school and university, now thinking of sending them to Limkokving or American University of PP since Zaman is slowly turning into a pariah. Would be good to compare how IDP views Zaman degrees to other universities offering high quality education.

The governement doesn't want to close Zaman out of the fear that white, middle-class, finger-wagging, Guardian and New Yorker reading, latte-sipping, gluten-free Libtards in the west will accuse them of Islamophobia.

Never trust people who invite you to a BBQ that has no beer and no sausages.
Halal KFC is a poor substitute.

I went to a TEFLER conference this morning in PP. A standard mix of semi-pro TEFLERs (mostly sober and wearing shirts), more Flippers than you could shake a shitty stick at and an assortment of Khmer teachers and admin (I took a pretty young thing from the staff to represent who wore a very short skirt).
My table was next to Zaman, and by Christ/Allah's breath what absolute fucking hounds they sent. Like Bela Lugosi in a wig, with hairy warts and potato sack dresses.
I'd never send my offspring to study with such beasts, they'd give the wee ones nightmares. And parent-teacher meetings....(shudder).
Weird and ugly people. Shut them down.

Don’t forget a Turkeys is for life, not just for Christmas.
My posts are just jokes, maybe they're rude, offensive, and politically incorrect. They're not my opinion, viewpoint, idea, or judgement, but they're just fucking jokes so lighten up.

http://www.reuters.com/article/us-relig ... 4120061122"Darwinism is dead," said Kerim Balci of the Fethullah Gulen network, a moderate Islamic movement with many publications and schools but no link to the creationists who produced the atlas.
Aykut Kence, biology professor at the Middle East Technical University in Ankara, said time for discussing evolution had been cut out of class schedules for the eighth grade this year.
"The students will just learn there is a theory called evolution defended by Darwin back in the 19th century," he said. "However, views of Islamic thinkers from the Middle Ages about evolution and creation have been included."
