Still great news for cargo this could seriously improve business some of Cambodia export oriented companies
Anythings better than that bus. Stretch your legs, and get off at the stations for a walk about. Perfect for tourists that have 3 months or more. The 2 week ones fly I should think. It would be great if they did a continuous through train with sleeper to Bangkok. Both countries seem to use the 1m gauge track.
Agreed, trains are miles better than buses, and dirt cheap in Thailand. Much better non flying option.
I could never understand the Thai wife's desire to ride the minibus into BKK when the train was quicker and something stupid like 18baht each way.
It was almost as though the Thais saw minibuses as superior transport as they were newer and kinda like a car. Madness.
i used to often get the 48 baht train from BKK > Aranyaprathet, takes about 6hours but its an enjoyable ride, especially if you get the 6am one, big windows pulled down nice breeze coming in, done the 3rd class night train from Hua Hin > BKK quite a few times as well, its slow, takes about 6hours and its a free for all with everyone just sleeping on top of each other on the floor etc lol
trains are better than busses, albeit a little slower though, ive got to the point now where i tend to Fly from DMK > PP, last time it cost me $25 + $20 extra for 30kg baggage, $45 total is still a bargain, couldnt do it that cheap in a taxi and the night bus is a good $30
